So, tl;dr...
For having to RMA the device multiple times, you want Valve to send you a new upgraded (higher tier) model like Samsung did with their phones?
It's not a faulty unit if it worked for 6 months at least.
Not counting the initial mishap with the first RMA, they did exactly as expected and even sent you a new deck back.
I did however recently buy a Lenovo legion go and while it lacks proper software that the deck has, the Lenovo out performs the deck by almost double the frame rate when used at 800p and the screen is so much better that I never realized the decks screen was lacking so much until I could directly compare them.
If the new deck doesn’t do it for you I would highly recommend going with the ROG ally as it will be quite the upgrade.
Thanks for the suggestion, I might actually just switch, it hurts a little, but the extra frames will make the switch from the steam deck a lot better.
Only downside that it's not really a portable device at all.
Something that both Lenovo and Asus clearly forgot when designing a handheld.
You need acceptable battery life.
The deck oled has that, it's also the most ergonomic and has the most community and official support.
all of these handheld pc market devices are running into end of life software issues,
they made them with 16 gigs or ram which is not enough for the next 5 years of pc emergence,
with in 5 years i expect that 256 gigs of ram will be the standard and already most newish systems are rocking out 64 gigs with 4 super cheap 16gig ram sticks,
anything sold with 16 gigs of ram is going to be obsolete by 2028, at least for popular new gaming and already most of those devices overheat, have poor battery life and struggle to even process the games from a few years ago.
i recommend sticking with a good android based tablet for your mobile gaming needs, the concept of hand hold mobile pc is just not functional enough to be desirable, the operating systems are continuing to increase thresholds of resource use, right now the industry is trying to increase the functional memory usage of the pc to promote expansion of hardware sales to warrant you needing to buy a 64gig ram computer.
Yes it does. It sounds insanely crazy.
So apparently you think I should be getting an iphone15pro max if my iPhone SE has some warranty issues
Wait that sounds crazy? Well what do you know
Its also hilarious that you'd also probably try the same nonsense with Rog too. Its not about 'principle' with you at all
Nah, in reality that's something that various companies do.
Well, Google is full of examples, suit yourself. It's not unusual for a company to send you a better gpu, for instance, if your gpu is having issues shortly after you purchased it.
I mean I'm pretty sure apple will definitely give me an iPhone 15 pro max with 1TB to replace my iphone 14 256GB. That's definitely how that works.
Got it.
I have plenty, I just don't care enough to show you, sorry.
