you should get the xbox core controller as it's newer and better
https://www.xbox.com/en-CA/accessories/controllers/xbox-wireless-controller
Like i said, when i tried that Third Party Deck, (ROG Ally is the actual name) which had a similar D-Pad, the design kept causing me to miss-imput to the sides rather than up, which was SERIOUSLY annoying, to the point it completely turned me off from buying that over the official Steam Deck.
So im wary of buying this Xbox Controller model if it causes similar issues.
And if you're a big dude like me, you need an Xbox 360 controller, or even a PS3 controller that has thicker and more tense triggers and joysticks. For the D Pad, the PS3 controller is the best.
Im guessing the older model is the better option for me then, due to this very reason, less sensitive D-Pad, which means less miss-imputs.
So yeah, the competition is between these two's D-pads
but yeah, microsoft has an awful naming system
i switched from the old xbox to new xbox controllers when i got the series x
