Question about Xbox controller
So, decided to get one of these to use for certain games but I can’t decide between two of them.

I believe both are models for the Xbox One console, but one noticeable difference I saw was the D-Pad design, one was the tradicional cross, but the other was a circular design with the cross on top.

Which one is better? I’m not familiar with Xbox at all, but it’s essentially the go-to for PC gaming if you wanna use a controller.

I recently got the Deck which has a similar layout with the Cross design, which is alright, but idk if the circle-like version is better or less… “precise” my sister got a third party version of the deck (Rouge Ally was the name I believe ) that had this D-Pad but when I tried on Elden Ring for example, i constantly fat fingered on it when trying to switch between my items, but idk if the official controller itself has the same issue.

the xbox core controller is the one released for the new xbox series s/x consoles and the xbox one controller is the old xbox controller

you should get the xbox core controller as it's newer and better

Im guessing, but my question is primarily about the D-Pad, does this model have any issues about that?

Like i said, when i tried that Third Party Deck, (ROG Ally is the actual name) which had a similar D-Pad, the design kept causing me to miss-imput to the sides rather than up, which was SERIOUSLY annoying, to the point it completely turned me off from buying that over the official Steam Deck.

So im wary of buying this Xbox Controller model if it causes similar issues.
It depends how big your hands are. Bigger hands make the newer controllers too sensitive and wiggly. That matters on shooters and racers.

And if you're a big dude like me, you need an Xbox 360 controller, or even a PS3 controller that has thicker and more tense triggers and joysticks. For the D Pad, the PS3 controller is the best.

Yeah i used to play PS4 and the controllers were fine, but... from experience Xbox is supported FAR more consistently than PS on Steam releases.

Im guessing the older model is the better option for me then, due to this very reason, less sensitive D-Pad, which means less miss-imputs.

Ok did some research and it seems like the controllers i was comparing are the Xbox One S, and the Xbox One Series S/X (god these names are awful)

So yeah, the competition is between these two's D-pads

it's xbox series s/x, not xbox one series s/x

but yeah, microsoft has an awful naming system

Yup, so you were saying the Series S/X has no problem with the D-Pad causing miss-inputs?

not in my case but everyone's different

i switched from the old xbox to new xbox controllers when i got the series x
I haven’t tried a proper SeXbox controller, so I don’t know how/if they improved it, but the “floating circle” d-pad on the 360 controllers was absolutely horrible. It was far too prone to accidental inputs when moving your finger between left and right. The cross on the Xbone controllers is much better.
If you are gona play fighting games they both suck you are gona have to find a diffrent controller where all movement buttons are seperate from each other. Because with this kind of modern gamepads its litterly impossible to make a clean combo.
