I enjoy so called "mediocre" games
Halo Infinite is arguably one of the best online multiplayer FPS games ever made

CS2 and CSGO are complete garbage games. CS 1.6 feels incredible

I enjoy Runescape 3 over old school Runescape, by a long shot

I enjoyed Diablo 3, and 4 (to an extent...) over Path of Exile

I enjoyed Starfield, more so than Baldurs Gate 3

I enjoyed Palworld for like 10 hours, then immediately got bored. It doesn't deserve the mass praise

Helldivers 2 is a 6 out of 10, and doesn't deserve the mass praise

Okay...is there something you were looking to discuss or...just listing off personal games you enjoy?

it mostly is depends on personal experience, as a kid i used to play cool spot, today this games is boring a flash game of sorts, or other games i played doom a lot in childhood and later as well, it depends on personal experience, a lot of game mechanics are not quantifiable, if you played rts games a lot most other rts games will not be fun even if it has good rating or not, i think we need more games with new mechanics or at least mod support that allows adding new game mechanics like dayz or dota type mods that make new games out of old content, or rather reuse game assets to make new games, thery i think modding community probably biggest innovator in games today.

Have fun playing the games you enjoy. That's what gaming is about.

:Jackie7: It’s OK to have tastes or opinions divergent from others — indulge yourself if they’re fun for you.

Yeah, if "AAA" is a measure of quality, I don't play a lot of those at all.

Other than that, I don't know a way to even measure "mediocre". Although, I guess I don't have all that many games with a "mixed" score.

I buy and play what I enjoy and ignore what I don't.

I also don't get all salty when other people play and enjoy things I don't like.

I am glad Steam is here offering games that appeal to a wide variety of styles and preferences.

Yeah that's the magic of gaming. you play and enjoy a game that's called mediocre? cool, you don't have to loudly exclaim it all over the internet. you can just play it.

You don't like a game that many people enjoy? Nice, you still don't have to post about the fact you don't like it that much. you can just ignore it.

Everyone does. A lot of god-tier games are like by almost everyone, but so-called mediocre games tend to appeal to a certain niche. For that niche, they tend to be highly enjoyable, whereas their universal appeal tends to be much lower.

No one’s allowed to extol games you don’t like? Interesting take.

Whose definition of mediocre are we using?

If I went by what other people say about where a game falls on their good/bad meter I would have missed out on a number of what I thought were great games.

What ever happened to knowing what you like and being able to take a risk now and then?

Don't some forums exist for people to praise or hate on games? Isn't that called an option for people to talk about it or not?

I actually don't have a problem with people doing either. Where the problem starts is when they think they are the only people with the correct opinion regarding said game ... or in this particular case having an opinion on said game and sharing it or not.

You never want to stop someone from having an opinion ... even if you think it sucks. On the same exact basis you tell someone they could have avoided discussing it you could have just as easily ignored the topic.

Perhaps you should practice what you preach.

Just play whatever game you want to. As long as YOU enjoy it, it does not matter what it is, how old it is etc..

Your idea of that will change, if you ever visit the Starfield forums.. That place is a hellhole. Bethesda wiped their hands with the Steam community years ago due to all the toxicity, and Valve aren't bothered about it so the trolls and general haters just run rampant there.

That's exactly what the aforementioned trolls and haters are doing. They don't post once and say it's bad, they post every day, every week.. some have been there since launch day posting the same stuff every single day....
Pretty sure if Valve had some mods looking at that place it would have been locked down months ago...

I enjoy a lot of odd and/or mediocre games. I dont particularly care what anyone else's opinion is and I rarely let it influence my decision to buy with the exception being games I follow for quite a while and dont seem to improve or get worse despite good feedback from the player base.

Be a goat and not sheep...

This is a poor jester farm attempt. I would give it 2 or 3 out of 10.
