i find this all to troubling and bothersome, i don't enjoy having to create accounts to access games i have done it a few times and often the case is the games lack enjoyment anyway.
I avoid this type of thing. its suggested that steam removes games from its game store that require the use of 3rd party accounts.
I recently bought BF2042 on Steam, and it requires the EA client to launch. Despite owning many EA games on the EA client app already.
Devs are free to sell their software as they like. People are free to buy them or not. Third party clients are irrelevant on my purchase decision.
And for the most part all the DRM or third party clients stuff only matter to a very tiny subset of gamers. EA filled all the top sellers for months after coming back to Steam, despite their games requiring the EA client.

You only need to link your accounts the first time you play an EA game on Steam.
1) Sign in to Steam.
2) Click Play to launch an EA game from Steam.
3) Install the EA app if you haven’t already. The EA app will launch and ask you to link your Steam account and your EA Account.
4) Log in to the EA app using your EA Account info or create a new EA Account.
5) Steam will install your game and let you know when it’s ready to play.
EA also requires the launcher and account linking to play their games on Epic Game Store.
In the case of GamePass, the games are played via the EA Play app.
They also require account linking for Xbox, Playstation and Switch.
Alternatively if you dislike 3rd party launchers and account linking on other PC clients such as Steam, you get the game on their own launcher. Problem solved.
for me, the game was free, but i will still not be interesting in owning it or playing it while it requires EA APP to run while still requiring other game stores running to decrease performance.
its a tough choice but at the end of the day its one each user has to make for themselves.
Never had any issues with that particular game and the only issue I ever had with the EA App was when I logged in the other day and it said I no longer owned the license to play The Saboteur even though I had it installed on my laptop at the time. Just booted the game up and it showed back up on the launcher as being owned already.
Honestly I'm not a big fan of all these 3rd party launchers myself BUT I understand why they exist and I am willing to put up with the hassle to have the game in my library. Simple as that.
I am a huge Dragon Age fan and own all the currently released games on the launcher except Inquisition which I purchased here. I also own the Mass Effect Legendary edition as well on the EA App as well as Mass Effect 2 which I eventually intend to ask them to remove it from my library.
Dragon Age Origins doesn't require it, for example.
Valve isn't going to prohibit them.
