Is scalping Steam trading cards a thing?
Today, I wanted to check the price of a trading card I wanted to buy, for which I had placed an order.
I was shocked to see a single user buying up tens of trading cards from the same exact user and then reselling them at a much higher price.
I canceled my order on said trading card and purchased what's left to avoid a huge price spike.

I'm making this post because I couldn't find anyone talking about it.

Other keywords: Remarketing, Steam Community Market, card, foil, auction, order, pre-order, scalp

Supply and demand is how the market always has worked and if someone wants to do this they are allowed however people can see the price history and know the items real value.

The cards are pointless lol i wish they would seriously get rid of them. Plus digital items have no worth, only placed upon them by people to get $$$ which right now is about also worthless.

Sounds like standard supply/demand to me.

Buy low. Sell high. Sounds accurate to me.

The point is extra money for the devs.

Yes, but they eventually get banned for it.
It used to be a huge thing when Steam Greenlight was around until Valve clamped down on it and closed down the GL project.

You can always craft Booster Packs or trade if you want to avoid these people.

I give up on maximizing badges and I'm just making Booster Packs then trading the duplicated cards for the lvl 1 badge, you have to dodge unfair traders tho but there is plenty honest traders out there.

The scammers used platforms such as these for profit for a long time.
You don't understand, we live in an age where Hindu scammers grift $700 on standard Chase Visa cards per customer, and CHASE refunds you the stolen money, Chase takes the loss of possibly billions. Which is paid back by the Feds., so those illegals from India fly here free.

Let me emphasize that a SINGLE user bought multiple of the SAME trading card, and RESELLING them at a higher price.

Show me a game auction system, and I'll show you people buying up cheap stuff and relisting it for higher. That kind of market manipulation has been going on for decades.

And?
A lot of people might think that that is a good idea........ but it only works out if someone buys it for their price.
