The tags that people can block are user-created, and the other stuff in store preferences is system related. Like whether a game requires a VR headset or whether it runs on macOS.
There's nothing else in the category where the AI disclaimer is that currently has a way to block it on the store. It's a brand new category.
Consumers are expected to make informed decisions. Don't buy a game without taking at least the most trivial glance at its store page. Steam hasn't recommended me a single generative AI based game since they started requiring games to label themselves as such. It's not a very common occurrance.
And more importantly, if they punished games for correctly labeling themselves, the games would be incentivized to lie.
It's the same reason they can't treat the new version of free demo store pages differently from free games in any way. If there's a reason to evade the system, the system will fail.
Saying the tag is a punishment is like saying the "LGBT" tag is a punishment because people will avoid or blacklist that tag as well.
No, I'm saying that the answers to the content survey are not user-applied tags. They're a completely separate system.
People want a tag so it can be filtered. Like what Valve did with the "Boomer Shooter" tag.
It makes no sense and it's an insult to the concept of morality.
AI isn't evil incarnate.
AI doesn't even understand morality yet.
Being against it morally is ludicrous because you're basically being against all technology at that point.
Because all technology can be used for good and evil.
AI isn't even capable of being something you can have a moral outrage over.
Good grief.
That can only apply to actual humans.
No one can have a moral outrage over a gorilla in the Zoo.
And that's what having a moral outrage over AI is like.
ill go after "AI" every day of the week. its not a baby, its some jackass in a suit who thinks if he makes this work he can stop paying actually talented people.
Literally nothing you said has anything to do with AI at all.
Why make up stuff?
AI isn't CAPABLE of sentience!
It literally can't be claimed to be a jackass in a suit.
LOL wut.
Do you even understand the nonsensical claim that is?
A human being is not AI.
A Human being using AI for evil DOES NOT MAKE AI evil.
You are literally no different than the people who are trying to ban all guns ever because criminals can use them to commit crimes.
That's human nature!
NOT AI.
Do not conflate the two.
You're literally against the concept of technological progress.
Just because people can use it poorly.
Not how it works.
it is a program made to steal ♥♥♥♥ so they dont have to pay artists anymore.
so they dont have to pay writers anymore.
so they dont have to pay animators anymore.
so they dont have to pay coders anymore.
being against corpo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attempting to gut the entire creative sphere is the only reasonable response to the situation.
Why are you constantly making up lies about what AI is?
It is and has been used for decades.
No one can flat out lie and claim it's a program designed to steal art.
LOL wut.
That's not evne a logical claim.
Stop making up nonsense that has nothing to do with AI.
A PROGRAM IS NOT AI.
Good lord, stop this!
please learn to read before commenting on my posts. i do not have the patience to explain every line word by word if you insist on misunderstanding them to such an intense degree.
i hear dr seuss is an excellent primer on basic reading comprehension, try some green eggs and ham or cat in the hat, and then come back and try this again.
I have read everything you said, and I have countered your claims.
Sorry, but you're not allowed to make up blatant lies.
That goes against all Debate and discussion rules.
It's probably better to have a tag for games that don't use AI because otherwise your tag will eventually just be 'every game'.
