Steam Games Crashing
Steam Games Crashing

Hi, I have been having consistent game crashes on steam with the following games: Crusader Kings 3, Helldivers 2, Sker Ritual, and BG3. The crashes have been fairly consistent across these 4 games and I am investigating the crashes with HD2 and CK3 separately with the game studios. However, the fact that this has happened across 4 steams now has lead me to this subreddit. I have included the error reports below for each game. Can anyone help me resolve this?

Have you verified the games' files?
Ultima modifica da SLG; 15 mag 2024, ore 21:48
Yes. For each game several times.
EventID 1000 is system file error. Which could be a bad driver install, corrupt system file, out dated operating system missing key features etc

Can try the whole sfc /scannow fix in command prompt that's been run as admin and/or download fresh GPU drivers and remove the old ones with DDU first before installing, making sure to block windows from updating drivers on reboot.
Are you a Windows 10 user? If yes, did you update it? There were updates today.
Thanks. I tried the sfc/scannow feature with no luck. I also tried a clean install of my nvidia drivers but did not use DDU. I’ll try that and see what happens.

I am currently using windows 11 updated yesterday.

hello
All worked before w11 update ?
No, I still had this problem before the update. I would say this has been a problem for about a month and a half. Other single player games seem to work & game pass games (like SOT).

hello
Good so and you allread tryed sfc and dism ?
Have you checked the even viewer of windows if there is a reason about the crash ?
Both are due to the same error c0000005 and so it means there is something that is not working correctly...
I had the same kind of issue with another game and solved it by cleaning the nvidia cache more or less.
I think the place for this cache on new os is appdata/locallow/nvidia/perdriverversion/Dxcache
just delete dxcache folder content and see if it goes better

I tried that and removed the programs that were not in use. Unfortunately, HD2 still crashed with these errors. Would you have any other suggestions?

Have you tryed to clean the dxcache and do some dism command ?
I am having the same issue. Going to the local store to get some more RAM as i've got only 16gb. We will see if that sorts it out for me. Meanwhile please let us know if you managed to fix it.
Yes, I tried the DISM command & everything came back fine. I did clear what I could from the dx cache. However, there were some files being used in there by other programs.

Will do. I have 32GB of RAM and it’s still crashing. I don’t think it’s faulty since it’s working on other games. AH as yet to get back to me.

hello
Normally you should be able to clear all files inside dxcache till no games are running...
You tryed dism but not sfc ?

Any anti-malware suite installed with live monitoring? if so can you temporally turn it off and see if there is a change in behavior?

Have you tried creating a new admin user account and see if it shows different behavior on there?

At this point based on the information provided I do not think were dealing with a ongoing hardware issue.
