I have seen worst steam profile pictures, hammer and sickle, stalin/mao, terrorist organizations and so on but I had a picture with a dude that was wiping his arse with israel flag (was a cartoon, not real).. got banned for 3 weeks.. For what? For displaying my dislike towards something that is causing you know what..

Okay, first of all, we don't really care how you feel about the Israeli situation. Your beliefs and opinions are yours. But there are standards here on Steam just like with any other site. We simply don't want to see people projecting their political/religious opinions onto others. You really shouldn't be surprised you got banned. Most social media sites would've flagged that right away.

Second of all, no, it would make no difference if the flag was Palestinian. We don't want Steam to be about politics. It's really that simple. You want to make political statements, go to a site that allows it. Just not here on Steam. This is a gaming site and should stay a gaming site. Regardless of what people think, Steam did not violate anything by banning you. You broke their policy and this is what happens. Not every ban or content take down is about your rights or your freedom. Sometimes, it's about keeping Steam about gaming.

Maybe, instead of complaining about your rights being violated, you go read an article about what the First Amendment actually is. Many people think it's about freedom and it's not. That's only a small piece of it. It is also about protecting others from harm. In this case, it's protecting others from offensive content. They have a right to not see stuff like that. Honestly, this should be obvious because how would you feel if you saw the same thing but it was your country's flag instead of Israel's? You wouldn't like it. Well, it's the same thing here. Not everything is about you. I side with Steam on this 100%.

actually the 1st amendment protects offensive content as well but that has nothing to do on a private platform. what that is stopping the government or police etc from censoring you/arresting you etc.

Basically.. Allowing, promoting, supporting, distributing and even profiteering from bolshevik imagery on steam is going against their own ToS & community guidelines.
You can purchase stalin pictures and that avatar frame with hammer and sickle is like someone saying ''save the kids'' in public but goes home and punches his own kid..
That was my point, it is a double standard and makes me incline more towards some beliefs that people that are in charge of steam are not neutral.
As stated by a user above, it is selectively allowing one type of genocidal regime over another. I get that people grew up with the red scare propaganda and think communism is uniquely evil. Doesn't matter though. What matters is Steam has no issue selling to self identified communists. Steam China is a thing for those who do not know. Heck, Valve has even banned a game from the game store because it made fun of President Winnie the Pooh despite selling itself in China. Which is a big no-no.

Now, I personally wouldn't call China communist. I used "LARP'ing" as a negative pejorative to describe most communists. Because most don't and can't practice communism. Most practice state ran capitalism. Their economy is entirely capitalism based. They just believe communism is the future and they'll one day practice it. So they're capitalists pretending to be communists.

But irregardless of what I believe. China is still a red flag for you ever getting what you want with communists (or Mao imagery specifically) being banned. That market share is just too large. All those supposed communists have way to much... capital?... for Valve to drop them. It's ironic. Capitalism is the entire reason you will never get what you want.

Pity. Proves that Steam support is full of "muh Palestine" supporters. Cause when I called Iran's president a terrorist (rightfully) I wasn't unbanned so easily.

Was "easy" because I have provided a list of approximately 60.000 profiles with a certain name, icon, profile picture or avatar frame and pointing out the double standards, the fact the themselves broke their own ToS and that the ban was issued by a whim and excessively long for the "severity" of the case.

Edit: I have not asked them to remove my ban, but the CS (guy/gal) removed it which is much appreciated.
