Other than that, the Deck should regulate itself, for as long as it has battery.
I dont have the Steam Deck but a ROG ALLY but its the same principle.
The CPU in the ROG can go up to 95 degree Celsius at which point the ROG will downclock to keep it at that temperature.
Even plugged in with max wattage setting i have never seen it go higher and played for hours like that.
But most of the time you will never reach those temperatures anyway.
At 15 watt which is the standard Steamdeck clock too my ROG rarely goes about 60 degree and i played for 6-7 hours in one session (plugged in) without a problem like that.
That is btw. nothing device specific and happens on every PC too.
That is why a lot of newer cpus could boost more the better they are cooled as the manufacturers set a Temperature limit instead of a power limit.
Yeah these handhelds arer pretty much just mini PC with a screen.
