What is a game that handles latency well for people in different countries?

I'm Australian, so that means most of the people I meet and play online with are in other countries, most commonly America. If they're not in America, they're probably somewhere in Europe. It's quite rare for me to find another person from Australia or New Zealand, meaning whenever I play with those people, one of us has to put up with terrible lag. There are certain games I know can handle high ping pretty well for players across the world. For example: War of Rights is a game I play every now and then, and almost all the servers I connect to have 200-300+ ping, but I rarely notice any sort of lag. I don't know if it's just the movement of the player, the nature of the game or what, but it's awesome to find a game like that.

I'd like to know if there are more multiplayer games out there that handle ping pretty well so I can play with all my friends without one of us having to suffer bad lag. Any suggestions?

It's turn based so precise timing doesn't matter, and there's an international playerbase with whom I used to frequently play games.. You'd sometimes see people speaking on non-english langauges in the lobby too.
