I am sad that it will never seem that I have existed.
I know this might sound silly and insignificant to some, but I just can't help feeling disheartened and sad about not being able to gift my Steam account. You see, I'm not important; I'm just an average person living an average life. I can't have any children to pass my genes on to, and I'm the only child with no relatives or family left. It's a bit lonely, to be honest.

But I do have a friend who I consider family. They have children, and I've always wanted to give them something meaningful that they can pass down to their kids. That something is the only thing of real worth for which I own my Steam account.

I know it might seem trivial, but to me, it's a way of leaving a little piece of myself behind. A way of having a kind of existence, like people who can have children or relatives to carry on their legacy.

I just wish there was a way for me to ensure that my friend could inherit my Steam account when I pass away, so that they could pass it down to their children. It may not be much, but it would mean a lot to me. It's a small way of leaving a mark in this world, a piece of me, even if I don't have a traditional legacy to leave behind.

then stop giving steam money, you dont own your games you dont even own a license and you dont get to give them away so why are you even giving steam money?
Then how are you playing the games?
You have NEVER EVER been able to do this, since the beginning. No reason to be sad about it now.

Don't live your life for others, live it for yourself. Your existence literally doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. When you die, earth will keep on rotating as it rotated before. Even if the whole of humanity dies, it will keep on rotating. All you done will be swept away, if not in years, but in centuries and the universe got time to spare. Literally nothing you've ever done or will do matters if you zoom out far enough.

So don't zoom out. It's YOUR life, life YOUR life, yourself. That is what matters.

As for passing things on to children, kindness & mental health are the most important things you can pass on. Nothing monetary can or will ever replace putting good things in their minds, giving them good memories of you, to give them mental & emotional strength for their lives.

Well, at least you can gift your PC/laptop. Create a notepad file for your friend, that's the best gift ever.

If you think your only impact on the world is that you bought some games online at some point, you're dramatically undervaluing yourself.

i wouldn't undermine one's gaming collection , even digitally it has sentimental value akin to giving someone your trusty cue stick

You could give out a testament or last will with all the required informations (proof of account ownership, receipts from purchases using external payment methods - especially the first ones on the account - or bank statements, key activations in the form of retail keys, passport or something else identifying you including date of birth and other personal data etc.) and let that your friend or whoever forward to Steam Support, in case the game is over and hope for the best it will be accepted to transfer ownership. But i wouldn't hold my breath it working out this way.

what some are over looking as of games is buy the time your dead say 50 years from now would your children what be playing old school games from 50s years ago ?
Why wouldn't they? My kids are teenagers and they're playing games I have from the 80s and 90s.

Heck, my daughter considers UT99 the best shooter game and has expressed that quite a lot to her Fortnite playing friends. :lunar2019grinningpig:
