Request for Action on "Feed the Cups" Developer Misconduct
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent actions and statements made by the developers of the game "Feed the Cups" on Steam. The situation has escalated to a point where I believe it warrants serious attention and action from Steam's moderation team.

The developers of "Feed the Cups" have made several public statements that are deeply offensive and discriminatory towards female gamers. Initially, they claimed that their game was "too hardcore" and "not friendly for girls," implying that women are inherently less skilled at gaming. This sexist remark caused a significant backlash from the community, resulting in numerous negative reviews on the game's Steam page.

Instead of addressing the valid concerns raised by the community, the developers responded by labeling female gamers as "punchers(a derogatory term of feminism" and accusing them of "punching," which further inflamed the situation. Their refusal to apologize and their subsequent derogatory comments have only exacerbated the community's outrage.

In response to the flood of negative reviews, the developers have requested and received "review protection" from Steam, effectively hiding the critical feedback from players. This action undermines the transparency of the review system and prevents potential buyers from seeing the genuine concerns of the community.

I urge Steam to take the following actions:

1. **Review the developer's conduct**: Investigate the statements and actions of the "Cupfuls" developers to determine if they violate Steam's community guidelines and developer code of conduct.
2. **Reevaluate the "review protection" status**: Consider removing the review protection granted to the game, allowing all reviews to be visible and ensuring transparency.
3. **Consider further actions**: Depending on the findings of your investigation, consider taking further actions, such as issuing warnings, suspending the developers, or even delisting the game if necessary.

As a dedicated member of the Steam community, I believe it is crucial to maintain a platform that values respect, inclusivity, and transparency. Allowing discriminatory behavior and silencing valid criticism sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the trust players have in the Steam platform.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to see a fair and just resolution that upholds the principles of our gaming community.

Valve/Steam is supposed to be hands off on all this stuff. Funny when it doesn't fit a certain narrative users are told to report.

Well Valve hasn't taken any action other than flagging recent reviews as review bombing, which those reviews obviously are. As far as I can tell, the whole thing happened outside of Steam in the first place so there is zero reason for Valve to get involved.
I just let people report it. People can take an action they deem worthy, Valve will look at it, probably don't take action (as you noted) and it's dealt with.

It's just a better avenue for people than making threads about it. At least this way Valve will look at it.
Likely does mean people will come complaining that no action was taken, though.

Some folks had their feelings hurt over a vague and generally harmless implication and now the developers should be punished for it?

You're attempting to jeopardize the livelihood of developers, shareholders, marketers, and god knows who else over an emotional reaction to a statement made that may or may not have any truth behind it. Yes, a silly statement about gender-related gaming ability that shouldn't have been said given the sensitivities of today's modern audiences.

But, regardless of whether it should have been said, it was just an opinion. A virtually harmless opinion that people are free to share even if there isn't any truth it.

If you think this difference of opinion deserves severe financial consequences, then I dunno what I can do to help ya. You might try a more empathetic approach and have a meaningful discussion with the developers so as to try and understand where they are coming from and why they might think the way they do. You might even be able to convince them to see things from your perspective, wouldn't that be something? It would be probably be a lot more productive than trying to rage-bait an army of Steam users into destroying someone's source of income. Just sayin'.

Yeesh, cancel culture is truly a disgusting thing sometimes.

Often people who cry about cancel culture are more than happy to partake in it when it aligns with their own values, look at the exceptional amount of users from the SBI Detected group who're brigading/harassing game forums due to just the game itself being listed.

What in the world do you think this inquisition you are requesting could find to make "delisting the game" necessary?

Yeah, I too would like to see a fair and just resolution to the dangerous precedent being set here. Although I suspect my idea of what that would consist of is quite different from yours.
steam have rules and all.... but
they have to take care of their own interests...

if youre not getting anywhere
there is probably external departments you can report things to.

Man is that game not what you expect going in based on this post.

Also, how do developer with this many sale do like this? I feel like more than any great justice for interwebbing by the creators of this game, we need a slap upside the head of this developer for lollerskating on a project with this much success?

Assuming OP is on the level which I don't know.

OK. After some more looking into it, a lead developer with this studio pulled a sean murray because he's bit of a douche.

Punish the sexist douche, leave the game alone.

Not only that people forget that this can really land them in legal hot water because while a developer might be to small to take action there publisher and investors might seek legal action for any damages. Even if something a developer said is out of bounds that does not mean that legally anyone is allowed to discredit a company because there is something called libel and defamation. Just being morally in the right on the out of bounds comment does not constitute that you have the law at your back when targeting a business or even an individual. Freedom of speech has both its rights as consequences of enacted outside of what is considered lawful.

It happened in the past on other franchises and it is not something you want to risk without getting some actual legal advice how to proceed on such actions. Handling out of just emotions is the worst thing you ever can do in public if your going to attack a business.

That is not to deter anyone because its your own choice to make but I think it is only fair to mention the possible negative outcome associated with such campaigns. Granted the change of this is low if were talking a uncoordinated attack from simply a social media platform but that does not mean that you should not consider those risks.

The best course of action would have been beside contacting the developer to ask the publisher first for a comment from there business address respectfully. And have them look in to the matter. This particular one is reachable from info@indieark.com They can than as a business decide to talk to the developer on the matter diffuse the situation or defend, deny it or ignore it. You will at least now where you stand with them that way. Because no publisher in there right mind wants to harm sales deliberately but also no publisher in there right mind is to drop there developers without proper investigation because other developers might avoid the publisher based on that decision.

If you think any comments on Steam are against code of conduct for developers be it directly or those indirectly through a link the developer promoted itself on Steam than you can contact Steam by the report button on the game page as they are required to review it than. If it is only ever remarks outside of Steam than Steam unless it involved fraud of customers is really not going to act on it because they can't its not there platform and Steam is a business they are not going to jump on something just because a community says so or a developer, publisher did a poor job of damage control and PR. Rarely ever has Steam removed a developer for any public outcry and even more rare has it been they actually went as far to do a public statement.

If you find no answer at either routes and you truly believe something said constitutes discrimination in your country than contact your local authorities specialized department to look at it or an organisation specialized in these matters. Do take note that unless your from the same country of the person who you suspect is discriminating the changes of any effective action are extremely low. And do take the risk into considerations some countries might value businesses above those of individual stances. It is your own responsibility to consider your personal safe being.

Here are examples and sadly they are not isolated cases.

Satanic Panic says hi. Conservatives have been cancelling things for as long as there have been conservatives. Slowing down change is literally their whole deal.
