"you not liking x thing doesnt make it x thing"
please, friends, compadres, community...

Can we stop with that line?
it really, usually, just comes off condescending and mockish. often times it looks like the person its being said to had their words twisted... and all its REALLY going to do is incite anger.

like, had ANYONE, EVER, seen that and just went "oh, wow, I never thought about it like that. I know I said this thing was weird because of x y z but when you reduce it to just the perception that perhaps I dont like it and thats why I say its such and such..."

please. consider a better way to challenge people other than that line.

when it answers a question effectively, no

stop doing this because i do not like it

is a valid request

no

is a valid answer

i like it, you not liking it is not a good enough reason to stop it

is also a valid answer

what people need to do is take a step back and relax

stop looking at everything like this as some kind of insult or challenge

I don't see the issue with it. Such statements are merely true in nature and certainly needed when people make complaint threads talking from "we" or "my opinion is facts!!!" standpoints. And often enough those threads are made to incite anger anyway, so perhaps that's where the focus should be.

Especially when words like "scam", "fraud", "anti-consumer" and the like pass by it's a good thing to keep indicating that people use those words as simple substitute for "I don't like it".

Thank you for your input.

Though I feel you failed in appropriately reflecting my statement.

what I mean by this is that you said here "I dont see the issue with it" and then expressed it as 'merely true in nature'

I presented a bit of a breakdown on how such a statement can often be received. It really only serves the person saying it or those who oppose the person its being said to.

I respect your perspective about complaint threads.

how is

"i do not like x"

not as self serving as

"you not liking it does not mean x"

everyone here is expressing their personal opinion (unless providing facts)

i may like x and not want it removed or changed

why should i not express that?

Instead of telling people not to say something because you don't like it (and who made you overlord of what people can and cannot say, anyway?), do something better, lead by example -- it might even catch on!

oh wow, names I dont recognize... Alts? or new people?
Either way, ganna go ahead and block some trolls now. Anyone who calls me a bot has got to be trolling... or anyone who accuses me of award farming (particularly when the thread has 0 awards) also probably is just trying to troll.

you are clearly arguing in bad faith, but ill take the bait.

its not as self serving because its an appeal to the community alongside a why... I even presented the psychology behind it for you guys.

does seem like award farming....

and there are skilled people that apply certain phrases in the correct context
as apposed to those that use phrases as fashion...

i never use it...

If that's "bad faith" then what do you consider immediately labeling someone as an alt or troll or disregarding a comment as bait to be? I'd consider that bad faith.

you presented your feelings

that is not

'the psychology"

on the matter

i disagree with your statements

it is that simple

and now you are arguing degrees of what is self serving

why?

When it stops being appropos people will stop using it.
And it's necessary to point it out.
If this is being said to you, it's probably because you've taken more than acceptable liberties with the use of a word or phrase, typically for no other reason than to garner emotional impact where none is required.

I have actually seen that happen a few times.
More often you will see the person alter their phrasing to either be more precise.

sure, and I have no complaints about that. but then you have the majority of people who use it like edgelords to try and mock or invalidate someone.

and if its award farming, when do I start getting my awards?
check my post history, I dont care about awards... hell, please, do not give me your points... I've got plenty of my own.

Yeah people OP want everyone to stop having an opinion... Not how that works bud. Everyone has right to their opinion.

Everyone has an opinion, and not everyone thinks the same, likes the same, or etc.... That whole point of having opinion is free will.

It is a sign that they are low-intelligence people and you would do best to avoid them.
