Why is Turkey still region locked even though it is now in MENA Region
I wanted to gift a friend of mine im Phillipines a game but it says "Purchases made in Turkey can only be added to your library if you are in Turkey."
The thing is we dont use Turkish Lira anymore we buy in USD, from MENA region, why is Turkey still region locked? Like, the prices are not low anymore.

What if i want to send to my friend in Egypt ( which is also in MENA region), would there still be region lock even though we buy at same price?

This region lock should be lifted, at least for countries that are in same region such as MENA-

Turkey is region locked because your inflation just hit 70%+ and it does not show any sign of stopping.
Valve region locks stores when their local economy passes a certain inflation threshold.
Thats currently Argentina at a mindblowing 290% and Turkey with 70%.
If those countries get their inflation under control so it goes down below 30% or so they will most likely lift the restriction.
But it does not look like it currently.

Because Philippines is not in the MENA region.

Egypt should be fine.

Maybe Steam doesn’t trust Turkey?
After all the VPN scams, who could blame them?

Region activation restrictions placed on games come from the Steamworks partner.
