How could hope be taken from you?

@cSg|mc-Hotsauce Have you started playing Minecraft?

What do you mean "started?"

I originally started playing the game right after release.

I still have projects that have been going on for years and some that may not be completed before 2035.

Would they happen to be in regards to decarbonization?

On a serious note, in regards to consoles, launchers, porting, and the likes, You have to ask yourself questions like what good is this whichever other console (launcher, or the likes) if everything is available on a single platform?

No. Mega builds involving creating multiple massive cities and landscapes connected into looking like the nationwide transmutation circle plus Xerxes' own circle, roughly to scale. We have the Northern Wall of Briggs and tunnel below it completely finished along with 1/2 of Xerxes.

People just want things in one place for ease of use.

Well that took a dark turn... /j

Not just ease, but more economical, at first at least. I'd imagine that if one platform were to "have it all" whilst the rest die of lack of competitiveness, there is a decent chance the owner of the remain platform would be like: "Oh, now that you are no longer spending extra on those other platforms, I guess you have more to spend on me then." I'd mention regulators, but they are inconsistent as far as I can tell, especially on an international level.

Nothing stopping you from adding the Minecraft launcher as a non-Steam game. I've done that in the past.

While Steam is typically the best place for any PC game publishers to get the most players exposed to their game, once in a great while a game manages to succeed without Steam. League of Legends is one such game. World of Warcraft is another. Minecraft as well, and it's unique since it is the highest selling game in all of history without needing Steam at all.

Games that find success on their own without Steam have full incentive to stay outside of Steam since full profit goes to that publisher.

But still, Microsoft is perfectly willing to publish on Steam as apparent from the other games they've put here, including other Minecraft related games. They might, if sales slow down enough and they feel they can tap into another market by publishing it here. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

I thought WoW predated Steam; I remember when you'd buy install disks for the base game and the expansions, along with the subscription.

Nope, Steam was around the year before WoW was released. It just wasn't distributing third party games and Blizzard already had infrastructure for handling their multiplayer games.

That alone would be strong reasoning why everyone got around just fine without steam back then.

Edit: also, good to know.

If I remember correctly it didn't seem to get along well with Remote Play; perhaps it was early on when mouse emulation was broken.

I like the idea of minecraft on steam. there really isnt a good all in one place for minecraft where you can talk, share pics, and get mods from. steam could fill that void tho
