Question about games
Basically I have a game that crashes at the same spot in the story every time. I thought it was hardware related but it does the same on 3 computers. I have two questions now

1. Can individual copies of steam games be broken so that it doesn't work on any pc? (like can somehow individual copies of the same game you buy vary from other copies)

2. If they are individual copies, and I were to permanently delete the game from my account, what would happen if I were to purchase the game again afterwards? Would I get the same copy with the same cloud save, or a new copy of the game or something else?

1. No. Everyone have the same game.
2. You can "permanently remove" but it's just an advanced hiding. You can restore it at any time, but can't rebuy it on that account.

If you have problems with the game, try asking for on it's forum. Sometimes fixing is very easy.

Example: few days ago I was trying to play Hunted: Demon's Forge. It kept crashing during intro cutscene. I jad to only change one line in it's ini file to make it run flawlessly.

And you can ask for refund if you own the game less than 14 days and played it less than 2 hours.

GTA IV has (or had, not sure if they fixed it) this same problem. A Battlefield game too, I think it was Hardline. Do some research and you'll probably find a fix, I'm quite sure someone else has experienced what you're experiencing and found a solution. What's the game?

OP, what you found is simply an annoying bug. Best to look in the game hub, it's likely other people ran into it as well. You'll find the answer there.

Idk I’ve searched since late 2022 when it first happened, couldn’t find an answer that worked for me. I also tried asking in the games discussion twice but no response. Game’s support team was also unable to provide a fix

Oh, interesting. The game is Lego city undercover, I’ll look into that

If its the same save its possible there is a corruption in the save, but the best bet is to post on the game forum.

I don’t think it is, it happened on two saves I tried and someone else’s I also downloaded and tried. I posted on the game’s forums twice (idk if you can see it in my posts history but yea) and I didn’t get help that worked

Crashes that don't occur at startup or randomly are very rarely hardware-related. It's more likely that the game is simply broken in that place and the developer needs to fix it for everyone.

I see, I’m just curious why it varies as most people don’t have this bug but some do. It’s one of my favorite games so I’m really trying to find a fix.

The thing about bugs, especially ones that cause crashes, is that the hard part is figuring out why it happens. Once someone figures that part out, fixing it is easy.
