You're right, Steam Support can get things wrong. They have gotten things wrong in the past. But, when it comes to your choice of username, they couldn't be more right.

It also matters not one bit if that name truly were your real name (which is highly doubtful), Valve reserve the right to not allow the use of that name in their ecosystem.
