Steam moderators
Nowadays everything can get you banned whereas trolls are allowed to roam freely without consequences.
Bring back the old mods !!

Had they not removed volunteer moderators that can actually do their jobs, this wouldn't have happened. Instead, Steam opted for bots as moderators that are incapable of performing human-level jobs. Hence why majority of trolls were able to get away with their actions, especially if they're able to manipulate ToS and Guidelines especially by avoiding any and all bans altogether.

BS.

Volunteer mods were 1000% times worse. Volunteer mods would ban people they didn't like, shield their friends, and basically act like a menace to show off their "power." They were no different than reddit or discord mods. Their friend could be calling you every name in the book, but they would ban you because you quoted the post with name calling in it (even though you were the one being called names), and their buddy's post would get deleted, but they would go unpunished.

Steam involuntarily retired (aka fired) the volunteers mods for a reason.

The only people who are upset about the volunteer mods being fired are the mods themselves and their cliche that used to benefit from their buddies' power as well.

So basically they're no better than the bots, then. A clear case of two wrongs don't make a right. It's a wonder even Reddit moderators do a much better job than Steam moderators... and Reddit's obviously no better.

And their support is an absolute joke because they're too uninterested in looking at any and all screenshots as obvious evidence no matter how serious, they're only interested in making copy-pasted bot responses.

Oh, what's that? "Report, block and move on"? Sorry, but it's clearly a "been there, done that" which is essentially nothing more than a dead fish response. Oh sure, you can report someone who's deliberately violating ToS and Guidelines, even block them outright. But months, or years, later? The same person you reported against continues to remain active and continue to cause trouble while managing to avoid any and all punishment, making them Karma Houdinis because the moderation at Steam is this lazy and would rather pamper them and instead ban users over incredibly trivial reasons. Sorry to say, but it's the truth. Steam's moderation team are essentially elitists that makes Reddit's moderation team look like the top dogs (which is saying a lot, given Reddit's overall toxic nature).

hell i got recently banned over saying "hmm sussy baka don't go talking about piracy or you might get in trouble mmkay" and steam staff freaking gave me a 7 day ban over insulting other user and profile lock over it , like wtf what drugs are these guys on , even the appeal guy was like yeah this ban was justified so meaning you can't even use baby talk. the hell is this where did valve find these guys. Even the indians calling people honey in scam calls aren't this wacked out. Now i'm actually regretting wasting money on this website, should have just stayed in gog and origin.

A profile lock over it eh? Were you posting on someone else's profile? Or was it on a forum and it was like your 5th ban this year? Cause I don't think I've ever been profile locked before even though I've acquired a few bans here and there.

"Sussy baka," literally means, "suspicious idiot," so I doubt the baby talk had anything to do with it.

No, facts are truth. Throwing a tantrum because you don't want to hear the truth is what is childish.

Sussy baka is a bit of an internet meme. It's used ironically. Which is why people contextually understand it isn't insulting. If you don't have that context, the baka line could be considered offensive based on what it literally means in Japanese.

The issue is it's hard for moderation to know context, especially if their job demands they moderate quickly instead of accurately.
D. Flame May 24, 2024 @ 3:33pm
Plenty of memes are meant as an insult.
