new offense calling people clowns is ok on Steam?

I found that calling people clowns is not considered as insult. But by the urban dictionary it is very rude insult. Of course there is double standard so some people can not say it and some can, but it is still not nice, even if it is tolerated in some cases.

It all depends on how it's used, much like any other word. Context matters.

Generally the topic of a thread should be about discussing something--not discussing someone. Play the ball not the man. So if the topic is derailing into name calling then that wouldn't be allowed. That said, whether or not someone gets a punishment is going to depend on the context of a particular thread.

Does calling someone out for being a "clown" aid the discussion forward in any way?

Though calling somebody a "clown" is certainly not something new; surely somebody out there has been previously using it as a means to address somebody in a negative way. Needless to say that sometimes such insults get reported and sometimes not.

And before you respond by claiming that "clown" is just an everyday term that shouldn't on its own be regarded as an insult, keep in mind that there are thousands of better ways to make the point that what some person claims is absolutely false and preposterous, without tensifying your position to discuss in the first place.

And for crying out loud, don't use the urban dictionary as a source for your arguments. It's just full of nonsense. Literally any other dictionary out there is more credible than whatever derogatory slander is written there; like Cambridge for example: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/

so I guess using it like this is correct, because it was reported and just sharper word was removed. Word clown is approved in this sentence and post can no more be reported:

Also on my reviews and other stuff there are new comments like "wada maroon" etc., because I said to ether: "if you're looking for boyfriend, smurfing is your best option" as joke and got ban from forum. I didn't think that it is so serious to say this. Well, it destroyed my Trust Factor the way I can no more play, because there in nothing than racist and vulgar insults in voice chat. My try to stand for better gaming experience costed me whole game. Ban is permanent so well. Nothing I can do about it.

being destroyed in game by smurf who is salty and vulgar telling you it is smurf account that he is LEM. You can't do anything, you just lost hour of your life for one guy to have fun and others being frustrated. You stop playing, because go another game feels like self harming. You see discussion against smurfs. Call salty statement. Then reading thread where people telling that smurfing is when you don't play month and lose your rank. And then you see permanent ban for flaming. Good chain of events. It will make you stone cold.

Joker is popular, every few games there is guy with Joker in name. It feels like some old hype survived to nowadays.
