1 month banned from certain features for upvoting a legitimate FO76 review
This is the review, it's not spam or a scam. It's making a legit fair point.

https://steamcommunity.com/id/anisotropic12/recommended/1151340/

Of course the review is referencing the bad condition in that Fallout 76 launched in back in late 2018, way before it came to steam and it's referencing how the Wastelanders update has improved the game a lot. It's a positive review making a fair point.

So why are people who upvoted it now getting these restrictions/bans (according to the email from steam) from voting on user generated content? I can only assume it's down to an automated process perhaps being used to try and curb scammers who sell games on steam and try to upvote their sub par games, and also to try and tackle outrage mobs that mass downvote games over a decision or statement made by dev teams. Well it's obviously not working if it's affecting reviews like this one, or others put in jest like the Sekiro one (which was also positive review) that is also mentioned on this forum recently.

Matter of perspective, I think. That review can also be taken from the viewpoint that the game should have been released on Steam from the get go and it's a small bash towards Bethesda.

The reviewer would have been wise to expand a little on it. A few extra sentences would have gone a long way.

Or at least I think that would be the issue considered with that review, it's not clear what the intention of the review is.
Personally I would have skipped that review as it doesn't tell anything useful.

You can inquire with support on this. There's not really anything we can do on the forums.

Which is funny, cause which DEV or PUB wouldn't want to have a positive review after they fixed most problems.

Sorry, I don't understand.

@Matt I think user iso may think that Bethesda or publishers are directly flagging certain reviews triggering all this but I don't think that's the case. I think it's an over zealous automated program made by steam/valve perhaps at publishers behest, that is flagging reviews deemed to be spammy/pointless or part of curbing downvote mobs for whats deemed to be unfair reasons

In my opinion they need to retune their algorithms if reviews like the one here are being flagged because I sincerely agree with that one, hence i thumbed it up.
I did make a support ticked addressing this incidentally.

Even though it said I was banned from certain features, I am still able to vote on user content like reviews, I tested it and my vote registered on a review that had no ratings and I refreshed page and noticed his review is being seen by others now. Don't be discourage from leaving ratings they still count, just make sure to filter out the spam. I just ignored the email that apparently sent by Steam and reported it as spam, it was a weird email.
My current complain previously,

The current system is currently broken.
The previous system is fine, but they're trying to cut some short mainly the spam review which randomly flags legit reviews.

It was a thumb up a positive vote. You mentioned that the problem was not steams. I know, game pages are handled by the game publisher or developer. So weird that he got a ban for a positive vote.

Ah that make sense as well.

The review itself implied that the game might worth the price after all the updates calling it "This should have been actual release" with thumbs up.

It's weird to have it flagged unless steam randomly flag the review because it contains less than a few words which likely is happening right now.

wait, you can get banned for upvoting reviews?
Washell Apr 19, 2020 @ 3:23am
Reviews need to stick to reviewing the game. That thing is (mostly) reviewing Bethesda and their choices releasing the game in a certain state. I get why people are getting banned.

Based on that "review" I still don't know whether it's a good game now, or just no longer a dumpster fire.

I give it 2 days before this thread gets locked and that's being generous. From what I've seen that's the usual approach of steam mods to any criticism.
Vargas78 Apr 19, 2020 @ 3:34am
@Getty it's not a ban as in you can no longer access your steam account for a month. That would be something i'd go nuts! lol
It's more a restriction on what you can do particularly regarding reviewing other games, which still sucks but obviously not as much. But i think Bleehh mentioned that they were still able to upvote other reviews so i don't really know what actual score is in this regard.

This thread is fine. I'm curious to understand what's going on.

Nah, they usually get locked because people start insulting each other or something like that. Has nothing to do with criticism. Plenty of threads in the Steam discussion forums that criticise Steam aren't locked, for example.
