"Spacewar" are all the games that are not from Steam, or more specifically all the games that you added to your library externally and that when you open them you get "Playing a game that is not from Steam" :blanky:

it is a dev tool, basically

it is used in some workshop items,

have you dl'd any recently?

it is also a "game" that is used to help people pirate their games

it is used to trick steam into playing the pirated version of whatever game is being played

edit

A game used to help publishers/developers learn Steam. Only legitimate function. Anyone with it, is using the illegitimate function of piracy.

No. When you add a non-steam game to your library it doesn't show as Spacewar. When you PIRATE a game that requires Steam it shows as Spacewar.
Use "Spacewar!" (1962 - first known PC game) to test achievement triggers as a developer...

Be careful what you accuse people of without proof.
Anyone can dl and install the game "Spacewar", it does exist as a hidden game on Steam.
There are even a few Steam Guides on how to get it, and lots of Lets Plays on YouTube showing people playing the game:

So, though it is indeed *also* used to pirate games and use Steam to launch them, game devs may still use it legitimately. as well as curious gamers who find the guides or videos telling you how to dl and install it.

Not accusation, but simple fact actually. There's zero reason for the average user to have it, and even less a reason to have many hours "Playing it".

some old mods used it or something so yeah you can legit have 100s of hours in it.
The only mods I know of that do this, also bypass the DRM of said games. Thus allowing a pirated version to play. Five M for example.

Was an older method, not sure if still used. Same for some "Gary's Mod" mods, and CS mods. Not seen any mods recently use it.

And the OP has 266.5 hours in Garry's Mod.
So... there is a possibility right there. Dl'd a third party Garry's Mod mod from Nexus or ModDB, or gmodstore, which may be using Spacewar to hook into the game.

At the time of their review, Steam Workshop was already in affect in full(2011 actually), and said unnamed mods no longer existed outside of Steam after 2013.

So, perhaps.
