Any old and new screenshot only appears in the Post-Game Summary section on the game's lIbrary page, but upon clicking on one, the Manager shows up entirely empty, with each window being of a dark grey color, with no symbols in it at all.
The usual screenshot save folder on my pc still contains both the old screens and any new one taken, but Steam seems unable to "sync" to it anymore, for some reason.
When using a different account on this same pc, the Manager works correctly, which only makes me scratch my head more.
If anyone could provide any help/insight to this issue it'd be greatly appreciated.
the new screenshot manager doesn't cope well with large local screenshot numbers. you could try moving all the game folders in your 760 (screenshot) folder to a separate folder (i just made one called 760-2), and keep just the folders for the games you're currently playing in there, then delete or move the screenshots.vdf (database) file and reload steam to regenerate it.
this is what i do. every few months i move old game folders out to my 760-2 folder and delete the database file. it's a bit of a nuisance, especially considering the old screenshot manager worked fine without maintenace, but keeping the database small does resolve the issues for me.
I will look into this, then; thanks for the suggestion!
First one:
does the new folder, example: 760-2, need to be placed somewhere specific, such as in the same directory where the original one is located ( or is it simply a means to save the old screenshots, like a backup, and can be placed anywhere in my drive ) ?
Second question:
when you mention " try moving all the game folders in 760 to a new folder, just keeping the ones for the games you're currently playing ", I got confused as to what it accomplishes; wouldn't Steam just recreate all of them anyways, upon deleting/moving the screenshots.vdf database?
the other folder you make, 760-2 or whatever, is just a backup. doesn't matter where you put it, so long as it's not a folder steam will look for.
copy all the game folders from 760 to 760-2 except whichever games you might want to upload screenshots for in the near future. keep those in 760. delete the vdf file. open steam. it will pop a load of notifications as if you were taking those screenshots again for the first time (but theyre just notifications, it's not actually taking screenies). once the vdf file reappears in the folder, the database is rewritten (usually takes a few mins depends on screenshot number). then you can close and reopen steam once more to stop the notification spam. the vdf file should be a lot smaller with less screenshots in the database. if that was your issue then the screenshot manager should (hopefully) function again.
if that still doesn't help then i have no idea.
I will try this out, likely tomorrow, and come back with the results.
Thank you so much for your help, Kryzz <3
i have to click another tab and then screenshots repeatedly to get them loaded.
