Steamwebhelper.exe blocking Nvidia Display mode switch

Started happening yesterday after my steam client updated to the latest version. Nothing else changed on my system. Anyone experiencing the same thing? My system now wont switch to the discreet GPU as a result when launching any game from steam.

Alienware m16 R1 AMD

AMD 7845HX
RTX 4080 mobile
32gb 5200mhz ram.
Windows 11 pro.

The post directly mentions that they are fixing the automatic mode switch in the next nvidia game ready driver update coming early in this month. What they posted was a temporary work around until that new driver arrives.

Remember that other client have the same problem (Battle.net, Rockstar client for example)

I am just glad to know it is a steam issue, I was on the phone for over an hour trying everything to fix it and they wanted to reinstall windows which would have sucked

The workaround worked for me for the last 2 days. Doesn't seem to work from today. It shows that cs2 is running on NVIDA GPU but in reality it opens up in a broken way and is running on Integrated GPU.

This should be a Steam fix and not an Nvidia driver fix. Legion laptops run poorly on the latest drivers from Nvidia, and stable are several versions behind. Since the problem started with a Steam update, the logical solution is for Steam to resolve it. Perhaps both Steam and Nvidia will provide concurrent updates.

Today a Nvidia driver update was released that fixed this error.

Can confirm the new 551.76 driver fixes the Steamwebhelper.exe issue. However be careful when updating the driver through Geforce Experience. It essentially bricked my system after asking for a restart and I had to roll back the driver and install it from nvidias website.

My system wouldn't go past post and would be stuck on the alienware logo even after clearing the bios.

Cs 1440 4:3

CS starts me 4:3 only with black bars and in game i cant change it

The Fix - Disable Integrated Graphics in BIOS.
