Steam Controller no longer working after Steam update
Unfortunately I ran a Steam update. Afterwards Steam Controller is no longer recognised by Steam app. Steam Controller is recognised by Windows BT. I unpaired and repaired the Steam Controller and both times successful on Windows but cannot be recognised by Steam and Big Picture Mode. When the Steam Controller is connected via BT, Steam behaves weird. On normal Steam, I cannot display the SETTINGS page and also unable to go to Big Picture Mode. On Big Picture Mode I cannot exit out of it. It simply minimises the screen. Both modes shows that controller is not recognised or connected. The only way to operate Steam again is to turn off Steam Controller. Please help.

yeah same here, completely unusable now and i use my steam controller with bluetooth to control my pc on my tv from bed. now i cant do anything.

edit: switching off the bluetooth and using the steam controller dongle seems to be working but i stopped using that since it would randomly disconnect the controller, i guess ill have to use it until they fix it

Is this really a common thing here? They do something of an update and then poof previously working system gone? And we have to wait for someone to fix it? Maybe not much using this controller anymore which is why it has not garnered any kind of support? I saw another one experiencing same issue for the last 2 days already. Appalling.

ive been using the steam controller since it first came out in 2015 and never had this specific issue but it definitely started after todays update for me since i was using it to control my pc this morning and it was fine before the update. you are probably right that not many people are using it anymore so they probably didnt even test it. i only use it to control my pc on my tv to watch shows and stuff i havnt used it for gaming in awhile. i wish i could just roll back to the previous version of steam where everything was working fine

I also had problems with the controller after today's Steam update. I use Speedlink Thunderstrike with a wired connection. I play Elden Ring with it. Before today's update everything was fine. Now L2 and R2 do not work, and after pressing any of them the right stick stops working.

I'm reinstalling a game that worked fine for days because the Xbox controller input didn't really work ingame anymore. Now I've read on the forums that a few people are having problems with their controller since the last update. Would be really annoying if that's the reason and there's no quick fix.

Controller started acting weird today in Elden Ring after update too
R2 and R2 don't work unless i press any of ABXY buttons and whenever i press R2 or L2 right stick stops working unless i press it :stress:

Same problem here with Elden Ring. If i want R2/L2/right stick, i have to hold another button at the same time. Yesterday everthing was fine.

I'm experiencing all the issues OP describes on both my PC and my laptop. Steam Controller connected by Bluetooth stops responding after the Steam client starts, and the client refuses to open settings or switch to Big Picture Mode if the controller is connected.

I installed the Feb 28 steam client update then turned off Steam. I then unplugged my Steam Controller dongle. I then configured my Steam Controller back to Bluetooth mode. After pairing it again with the laptop Windows and started Steam on Big Picture, Steam Controller is now detected again. It also kept the renaming feature which was unavailable previously. Feb 28 update seems to have resolved Steam Controller bluetooth issue.

Has anyone found a way to make the controllers work again?

My solution is to play demos of games where I am Patreon and maybe for the first time to try a launcher for which I get a free game every week. But actually I would like to continue playing RE 4.
