Every time someone brings it up, another 4 years is added to the development time. We're looking at a scheduled release in 4,418AD now going by the last thread a week ago.
But really, Valve will say something if/when they are ready to. Not a moment sooner.
example take a look at counter strike. there is counter strike 1.6, source, condition zero, global offensive before they renamed it to counter strike 2. know there is another counter strike game, but cant recall the name. So in reality counter strike 2 is actually counter strike 5 or 6

Didn't they say 4 was a bad number for the PlayStation as well at one point?
If the OP wants them so bad why don't they make a deal with Valve to develop both themselves? It would be a great opportunity for them to find out how hard it really is to develop games in this day and age.
I owned Half Life on the PS2 and Half Life 2 with the Orange Box. If it were me I'd take my query to a place where I'd get an answer directly from Valve. Just my two cents.
Valve haven't been a serious developer in years. I believe I already mentioned that before.
Half Life 2
Portal 2
Dota 2
Team Fortress 2
Left For Dead 2
Counterstrike 2
there are tons of games that are saturating the market and has made creating a new game very challenging an costly as 1000's of games release every year and only a small handful of them succeed at making profit.
B4B has nothing to do with Valve.
