There should always be a Win7 Thread
I love my Win7 System and Im glad Steam not killed it yet, just abandoned. What Win7 Users are used to it.
That we now know, based on some beta tester the next update also will not brick the client for us.
What do you think when will be our Death Sentence?
Share your thoughts.

How it is dangerous to be online using Windows 7 in 2024?
Microsoft stopped issuing updates for Windows 7 users. Now that updates have stopped for Windows 7 this means that Microsoft is no longer patching Windows 7 for new and emerging threats or exploits that are discovered in the future. Once Microsoft stops issuing security updates, patches, and fixes for an operating system (all Windows OS's) then it is no longer safe to be online with those OS's and/or allow a computer running any of those OS's to connect to the internet.
Eh, It doesn't matter to me (and some people too), I'll still be online using Windows 7, even if It's unsupported.

It's not just about it being unsupported. It's about data security and internet security. After September 2024 there will only be 1 web browser you can ever use safely online in Windows 7 ( http://kmeleonbrowser.org/ ), and after "some time in 2025" (we do not have a fixed date on that yet) anti-virus programs will stop working in Windows 7.

When that happens then you will not have any possible way to ever detect if you get any virus or malware when using Windows 7. Microsoft will not patch exploits. It's already dangerous today to be online with Windows 7 but after 2025 anyone with a Windows 7 computer should disconnect the internet entirely as it will be completely unsafe (and can not be made safe) to be online after that point.

After 2025 Windows 7 should only ever be used offline for old apps or old games.

I already said it doesn't matter to me.

After 2025 it WILL matter to you though. That is the point in which all Windows 7 users must either upgrade to a newer OS or disconnect the internet from their computers. There is no choice after that.

We'll see about that, and I will stay on Windows 7 as long as I like. Heck, even someone still uses Windows XP lol.

And just like the Win 10 and 11 systems I am using now.
Windows 11 is gutter trash. It's an easy skip, just like 8 was.

It's only "gutter trash" if you "just install it" and use it as-is without actually configuring it. If you use proper programs like Shutup10 and Win Aero Tweaker (both completely free) to remove all of the bloat and unwanted parts of Windows 11. Like Cortana for example. And then use a windows start menu replacement program (my favorite is Classic Start Menu, also free). Windows 11 can actually be quite a nice operating system. And on my computer (Ryzen 5800X computer) it's faster than Windows 10 by a lot.
I've just updated my Windows 7 system to the 2024-03 Security Monthly Rollup Update, it doesn't bring anything new other than security fixes.

Does that mean that you are running Windows 7 Embedded Standard as your main operating system and using it daily.. for gaming?

Or more likely in place upgraded over a system that is already loaded with bloat.
