Why Steam downloads "slowly" on a DRAM-less SSD?
I just wonder again and again when I donload a bigger game and Steam takes ages to download it. The reason maybe the dRMA-less SSD-s, only my old Crucial BX100 have, but every other SSDs even the WD SD570 which is a NVMe drive have this issue. After a while my 500 Mbit net speedd is much to the drive and donwload rate almsot goes to zero then up again.
I would say the drive has poor performance, but every other game client app works fine and download super fast! Epic, EA app (aka Origin), GOG Galaxy or simply Ms store.
I don't download often games, but when I do that hits me and I wonder some setting sis messed up or simply the compressed data cause this?

Probably a capped connection to steam servers by your ISP (traffic shaping)[en.wikipedia.org]

i don't think download speed has anything to do with dram

I've seen people have this issue because they have write caching enabled for the drive, assuming you're seeing the speed drop to 0 regularly. Personally I have no problems downloading to my NVME drive at full speed through Steam.

if you have a rotatng harddrive, you could just download it with that and then copy it over to your SSD afterwards through steam.

None of these are issue. Since EVERY other game client app downloading max speed and no slowdown at all. Even the hated Epic client download anything faster then Steam.
