Xbox doesn't want Steam on their console. Heck, they don't want Game Pass on Steam either.
Not to mention the custom OS and hardware the Xbox uses wouldn't fair well with Steam on it.
Why wouldn't they? They apparently made a deal with Ge Force Now to get GP over there. And GFN i assume made a deal with Steam. I play that thru the Xbox.
That, i submit, is the answer. A Steam Stream service. Steam Box. Steam Pass. They'll make a fortune.
What about the millions of dollars required to set up datacenters with high end gaming and network components?
What about the millions of dollars of recurring bandwidth cost?
What about contracts with publishers for their games to be available?
It would take years to make it a size comparable of Geforce Now and probably even longer to make it profitable.
Streaming is not cheap. Streaming games is even more expensive.
Second, Game Pass only works due to people agreeing to be on it.
Third, Steam Pass would probably be PC only option, and you'd be forced to use a poor streaming option like GeForce Now to play the game.
Xbox doesn't want competing services on their devices. GFN is not a competing service, it's an additional service.
Valve partnered with Nvidia, not Nvidia partnered with Valve.
Why don't you ask Xbox to put Game Pass on Steam? Oh, right, GabeN said he would help get it on Steam over a year ago and still, nothig.
GabeN already said no.
Well, i would ask Xbox, but, Phil Spencer wants to BUY Steam apparently lol. And so i guess i got my answer there. The answer is yes. There is room for some sort of partnership.
Spencer doesn't want partnership, he wants to consume.
They want no part in acquiring Steam at all. They are simply a PC gamer and enjoy the service.
Ignore it. He goes on about it in hie own thread.
Weird logic...
