Crossed Red Eye icon?

I bought a game today, 'Please Don't Touch Anything 3D', and I came to find out there was this red crossed eye icon on the settings icon, which when hovered over, said the game's activity was being hidden from others.

I had the option to 'unhide' the game through that setting menu, which removed the icon. Though, when I went to try and 'hide' it again out of curiosity, it only shifted the game over to the 'hidden' category of my steam library. There was no actual option that allowed me to specifically hide that game's activity like it was already doing when I got it.

Which gives me the impression this is some sort of special steam feature that they're testing the waters with, but that's more of a guess. Anybody else ever run into something like this? And if so, is there any way to access this kind of option again?

its in testing on the beta client, yes. If you dont want to be a guineapig you need to opt out of the beta client lol

I'm... Not on the beta client though. This showed up on the regular.

Unless I was automatically opted into it that is.

You had to have manually opted in at some point. You can opt back out by going to setting -> interface, and selecting the drop down under client beta participation.

Most people who dont remember doing it usually just did so at random at some point thinking it meant getting into game betas

'Client Beta Participation', right? It's showing me that the current option selected is 'No Beta Chosen'. Should I be concerned or fascinated?

Hmm, possibly you are seeing backend stuff from todays maintenance then. I havent seen an update to the client yet.

Not as common but not impossible I guess heh. Yeah in short they are testing extra granularity in game activity privacy, its been in testing for months and hasnt moved over to main because its still buggy. Chalk this one up to that bugginess if people not even ON the beta client are seeing it now too LOL

That is hilarious yet very neat. I'm looking forward to this eventual update then. I do hope though that more people come forward and talk about seeing something like this. Because if I was the only person who had encountered this bug so far, that makes my situation scarily niche. And it would also raise incredible doubts about what I had just experienced. Thank you for your input.

Given its probably a short lived maintenance bug showing the backend it probably only affected a small subset of users (likely just one cdn) and the the subset who even noticed it is probably even smaller. Combine that with the even smaller subset who use the forums you probably won't see many if any other users bring it up.

It's only when things go drastically wrong we see a forum presence for it lol
