Black Ops 3 - Unknown ban
I came home and started up Black Ops 3. When the main menu loaded up i noticed that the multiplayer tab was not present. However, near the bottom i saw a "go online" button. I clicked it and received an error message "You have been VAC banned. You cannot play ONLINE." For a moment i freaked out and believed that i had lost all of my games, but learned it was just Black Ops 3. I immediately thought of reasons someone would have reported me and couldn't find one. I had been playing hardcore domination the day previous, and sadly i was not doing my best. I was using the argus and XM-53 (trying to start the way twoards dark matter camo). In fact i was going with a negative k/d and being at the bottom of the leader board. So the option of someone reporting me was out. I had Norton (my antivirus) run a scan on Black Ops 3 since i thought that maybe there was a corrupted file. However the results came clean. After a large amount of internet searching i believe i found my answer. Earlier that day i was playing Minecraft with some of my friends and we were doing a bow and arrow challenge. For some reason i aim better in Minecraft when i have a dot crosshair on my screen. I was using a program call "External Crosshair" that simply put a dot in the center of minecraft. However, i believe that when i closed Minecraft i forgot to close the Crosshair. That software registers any open application (even a browser although i dont know why one would want a crosshair on their browser). So what i THINK happened is that the anti-cheat registered the external crosshair (since again the crosshair detects any open program), and although i was not using it in Black Ops 3, it thought i was. I contacted steam support and i was very confused since they said i didnt have a VAC ban on my account. However Black ops 3 said i was VAC banned and therefore couldnt play online. I checked my account standings and it said that i was all clean so why am i banned?

Is this a bug or did VAC glitch out?
(Also is there a way to put picture up so i can show the Norton scan and perhaps the error message?)

I think I have received all the information I need to take the next step. I thank all who have aided me by giving useful information.

Thank you for such a quick response. Yes i was banned six days ago, but i don't know what for. I could be wrong about the cross-hair but i cant think of any other reason. In other words why would the game developer ban me?

TAC bans are not solely based on 'spamming' reports

You were banned by TAC and for cheating.

I'm not really sure. You might've gotten spammed reports or something like that. Now that you have a ban, see if you can contact support. Even if it was 100% correct, you'll still know you did something to get banned.
I have contacted Activision support, but since my error message says i am VAC banned they said that i should talk to steam. However i have already talked to steam and they said i do not have a VAC ban:
"Our records indicate that your Steam account is *not* VAC banned. However server administrators may ban you from a particular server - we cannot prevent this. Server operators have control over who they allow to play in their servers."

At this point i am lost. Steam says i have no ban but Black Ops 3 says i do. Steam says its Activision's problem and Activision says its Steam's problem

Thanks for the responses. I apologize but i do not understand your terminology. what is a TAC ban and what is a "spamming" report

I apologise for making that mistake. I could've really easily given misinformation to the OP. No idea why I thought that.

ShadowG, were you using cheats in the past? You may have been using cheats the past few days. Game bans are applied when players are being disruptive.
I always thought you would lose all of your games if you used cheats. Again the only thing i can think of is the crosshair, but i was not using it in Black Ops 3 it was only runnining in the background. Also, do i have a game ban or a VAC ban? My profile shows game ban, but Black Ops 3 says it is because of a VAC ban.

look up Treyarch's ban policy for BO3, there are 5 different reasons for permanent bans besides cheating.

1. Use of Unauthorized Third Party Software for Modding/Hacking (ban)
2. Pirated Content (ban)
3. Unsupported Peripheral Devices and Applications (ban)
4. Boosting (ban)
5. Glitching (ban)
6. Offensive Behavior (ban)
7. Offensive Emblems/Paintjobs

I see that all of the topics have a first offense which suspends a player for a certain amount of time except third party software. There is no first offense only an immediate removal of the player. This leads me to believe that the cross-hair used for Minecraft is the issue, but again i am not 100% sure (cross-hairs sometimes come pre-built in monitors). However i am confused since the cross-hair was running in the background. Does this mean that VAC misdetected the crosshair? (since it registers any open application)

you are assuming that the in-game warning is literally meaning VAC, they might consider all bans under the same piece of text

edit: you need to explain how this crosshair works, how does it add a dot, is it injecting to all gpu accelerated programs? then yes it's a cheat & the game detects it, there is no such thing as being in the background

i dont understand why you dont have a HUD mod for minecraft to put a dot on screen internally, i also dont remember it not having a crosshair

I am little confused by your statement. Are you saying any type of ban from BO3 would be classified as a VAC ban. Because on the website only third party software makes a user permanently suspended on a first offense.

The cross-hair basically detects any open program and allows you to put a cross-hair in that app, and as for being in the background i mean that i didnt activate it in BO3. the app was running in the background but it detects any open app. So when BO3 was open the cross-hair probably detected it although it was inactive. Also for some reason i aim better with a dot cross-hair in Minecraft just like i sometimes i make my CS-GO crosshair into a dot using the console. (however minecraft does not have those commands).
I will also try to make a video on YouTube as soon as i can trying to explain what i think happened

Not sure if it's been said yet, but you can't have a negative K/D ratio. The lowest K/D you can have is zero. Sorry, just thought I'd throw that out there.
