Setting up ALP Micro controls via steam
I’m really in a bind. I’ve got the ALP micro and have been recently trying to play pinball fx and pinball fx3 via steam on the alp micro. I still haven’t quite gotten the setup quite how I want it. The biggest issue as of late is trying to set up Alp micro controls through steam. I followed some videos I found online and they gave me some direction as to what to do but I still can’t get it right. For example, I tried to set it up and for some reason the left and right nudges and the forward nudge are not working. Does anyone have any instructions/directions/etc. that will give me a few ideas or options of how I can set up the controls through steam. One of the videos said that there was a spot where people had loaded their own controller setups but I have no clue where those are. PLEASE HELP.

First & foremost, what is an ALP Micro?

Now that makes sense. With that out of the way, I presume it's a PC of some sorts, after all, you could get Steam & the game onto there. What you need, is an input mapper. A piece of software which maps [whatever keyboard/mouse/gamepad input the device uses for the right bumper] to [right bumber of an XInput gamepad]. Thank GabeN, Steam comes with exactly such a thing! Of course, there's other software out there serving exactly the same purpose, I do very much recommend GabeN's offering for KISS reasons.

So enable Steam Input for that game & get on mapping! If you want to know the controls, my personal first shot would be to attach an XInput gamepad & get playing. Then, after learning what is what, get on mapping the internal controls.

Nudges are on the right analog stick (or maybe left, try both). Bumpers are, well, bumpers, shooting the ball does A. Menu controls are exactly what you'd expect. Map all this stuff from the internal controller, the game will believe it's running with a dang-bog-standard gamepad.

I leave this link here:https://wagnerstechtalk.com/alppcsetup/
Funny thing is, it explains pretty much the same I just did.

It sounded like a usefull side, I have no experience with this alp thingy.

This still does not work. You cant map as shown in Wagner's website as he is using an ALP control deck which is not on the Micro Machine. I can map the flippers and the ball launch. BUt I cannot get the haptics to work or the accelerometer (physical nudge). Any ideas?.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
