There's workarounds for most of 10 and 11's should-be-illegal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but it passed the point of no return years ago. Once support for 10 ends, I'm done with Windows entirely.
Just need to decide whether to use EndeavorOS/learn to use archinstall or stick with Kubuntu.
stick with what you find best for you as far as linux distros go, if it does everything you want of it, then good for you (genuinely). you found something that works.
So what is it about Win10 and Win11 that are so utterly horrible you never want to use either of them and instead gimp yourself by using a far less supported OS?
Is it just the typical Microsoft hate? The telemetry data being collected? The UI is slightly different?
I've gone from 95 up to Win11. I just don't see why people are so stuck up on a single version.
What on earth are you on about?
Its as if someone says to you: "Good boy, you installed Microsoft Windows 10." Its yuck! Bleurgh!
Why is it smart to buy Windows 10? Just so that Microsoft can drop support again in a few years or months, and they have to buy yet another computer, even though they already have a good computer? That's disgusting. Are they trying to pollute the planet on purpose, and for no reason other than filling their own pockets?
And then you see all those Microsoft fans cheering for them that they upgraded? Its embarrassing.
Get it from the official page.
People literally had 8 full years to upgrade their licenses/keys "for free" .. So these people who had a Windows 7 License could had freely upgraded their licenses and OS to Windows 10 "AND/OR" to Windows 11. On next year people can "FREELY" upgrade to Windows 12.
So one Windows 7/8 License could be used for "at least":
Windows 7
Windows 8.x
Windows 10
Windows 11
Windows 12
You "just" missed out -- FOR 8 YEARS -- to upgrade your license for free .. as Microsoft has just stopped that special upgrade path on this September:
https://devicepartner.microsoft.com/en-us/communications/comm-windows-ends-installation-path-for-free-windows-7-8-upgrade
Microsoft and any other Platforms have supported Windows 7 really long, which is nice.
But it is time to move on... just as you would upgrade your crApple iCrap or Android Smartphone with latest Firmwares and Versions. Or as these guys who buy a new Smartphone every few months.. So even Apps for Devices wont work anymore if you dont have Android 11 at least, or iOS 15 or what ..
It is just a matter of time until no any software is going to work on Windows 7.. as a test install Windows XP or Windows 2000 and take a look which software may work on them..
Funfact:
Your upgraded license could be used for at least W7, W10 and W11, to switch back and forth
Newer is not always better, Windows 7 was the last OS designed for actual desktops. Not sure what kind of other software you run that specifically would need Windows 10 or 11?
