Being Asked to leave family view?
I have my pc set in family view because i'm sharing steam library with my partner, we play each others games, he has it set on his pc too. We do not want to turn this off

But I am trying to read a random news post on one of my games, in the steam client. Specifically this post
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1028310

I can read it in the news feed, but when i click the title of the post to open it up, steam demands that I enter my pin to exit family view.

I DONT WANT TO EXIT family view. I just want to read a news post. I don't see what these two things have in common at all, why would family view get in the way of reading game news?

i can put the link in the browser just fine and read it there too, so this whole thing seems nonsensical

whats going on here?

Family View is not the same feature as Family Sharing.

Family Sharing is to share libraries.

Family View is to restrict features for children.

well it sure doesnt accomplish that since i can still read most of the post, if it was full of porn and gore no child would be protected :P

So does this mean that if i exit family view, it won't turn off the family sharing with my boyfriend?

You can disable Family View without it messing with Family Sharing.
