Steam Moderators dont ban scam bot accounts
I dont know why but it seems that steam mods dont ban reported scam bots at all. I got added by an obvious bot that is spamming me since 2 months with scam links for "free cs skins" and nothing is happening to this account.
I even contacted the useless support and they told me with an auto generated message that they gonna check it. Of course I provided screenshots of the scam links, the chat etc, but they just dont care.
So what happened to this platform? They get payed for it or not? I mean if they cant even ban OBVIOUS bot accounts then they should make me an moderator too.

But well I bet this thread gets banned anyways because I mentioned this problem and the next moderator that is reading this thread, will get upset and ban me, but not the thousand of bot accounts sending phishing links to scam people.
See you later mates.

You can report all you want to the FTC, your ignorance of what the FTC will actually do, and who is accountable for what is the point. The fact that you can't comprehend that those of us in Canada have to deal with your legal system because of all the cross border trade is cute. It's yet another prime example of your ignorance.

So go ahead and keep screaming impotently. The Steam clouds don't care about your forum noise.

I will. Thank you for the excellent advice, and compliments.

Do you guys think that EPIC Games would have gotten fined by the FTC because consumers just sat back and watched the EPIC Games clouds ignore problems, that they were in the end, found guilty of being in violation of?

You really have no idea how the FTC operates do you.
You guys really need to read up before you start making this grandiose assumptions.

Yes, they were fined for actions they took.

Not for actions taken by someone else that YOU want them to be held accountable for.

Thank you for highlighting the difference. Feel free to learn from it, or not.

i'm just a guy with numbers in my name, don't take my word for anything.
Here trust some Helpful, awarded reviews.

sounds like this is what you like and want and even from bots spamming DOTA2 and CS2 consumer laws be dammed.

Enjoy!

neither of you seem to understand that Valve shouldn't be allowing so much obvious fakes and spam regardless, it unfair, deceptive, and its bad business practice laws you or I think are broken or not. its only a matter of time before the FTC agrees I think. but we can agree to disagree.

you said it is illegal and posted those links

they do not say what you say they did

only if steam/valve is involved in creating those reviews

either by paying for them (without disclosing it)

or using their employees to create fake accounts

would they get fined

it is very simple

all the rest is just you backtracking

Oh, so you're saying like Section 230 absolves them of any responsibility for others actions or something? Is that the debate now? Okay, then no, Valve is not a "Good Samaritan" of this type of content or bot users.

Yet you expect me or other community members to report to Steam? No thanks.

If Amazon is confident the review is fake, they move quickly to block or remove the review and take further action when necessary, including revoking a customer's review permissions, blocking bad actor accounts, and even litigating against the parties involved.

For all the Amazon hate, I guess they are the better "Good Samaritan" of this type of content or bot users. They however have also had the FTC breathing down their necks about those reviews, but never mind any of that, because that's not how it works according to any of you.

Valve does those things too, and Amazon only looks into reported reviews too, so thanks for ANOTHER good example of why you are wrong!

Actually Amazon.com is far worse than Valve.
But then you tend to go off the rails and talk like you know better so you do you.

There are fake and spam ascii that date posted back as far as 2019 - 2020. How's that working out? Would you like those to report?

Or you forgot to mention... that customers can report the obvious ones to the FTC too, instead of Amazon or Steam.

Nope, I wont. Because I don't care. I'm not the one throwing a tantrum about it

why are you so irritated anyway if you don't care?

its

The power of ReportFraud.ftc.gov

Your report is shared with more than 2,800 law enforcers.

We can't resolve your individual report, but we use reports to investigate and bring cases against fraud, scams, and bad business practices.

isn't it?

Wrong. Amazon actually holds user reviews for a time for screening before they are posted. I've actually had a review denied, was for mentioning the other brand or something dumb.

"Review Submitted - Thank You!
We're processing your review. This might take several days, so we appreciate your patience. We'll email you when this is complete"

Again Valve lets anyone, even bots post reviews with no screening at all other than the malicious url thing, and then expects to rely on user report as sufficient moderation for fakes, and spams. I don't thinks so.

I don't think Amazon would be any better off following Valve's bad business practices. Granted I've still seen some sketchy reviews once in a while. But not the full on bot, fake, spam or ascii we can find posted on Steam daily. There is no promptness here to remove any of it. Users here with whole product reviews filled with cats spam. Amazon is not allowing accounts to do that are they? Steam is so much more
FUN
.And for POINTS too!

No suffering here, all is good. Thank you! If anyone is to receive an education, insight it will be the FTC.

I guess Valve simply didn't know that they have user groups full of duplicate accounts that spam similar user review phrases over periods of months in DOTA2 and CS2. And there some other game reviews that fall into the category of sus, because who owns all these duplicate accounts?

But don't trust the guy with numbers, and a single
yes
on one review.

We're going to waste our time reporting every single one to Steam, right community?

no

Federal Trade Commission Announces Proposed Rule Banning Fake Reviews and Testimonials
Selling or Obtaining Fake Consumer Reviews and Testimonials: The proposed rule would prohibit businesses from writing or selling consumer reviews or testimonials by someone who does not exist, who did not have experience with the product or service, or who misrepresented their experiences. It also would prohibit businesses from procuring such reviews or disseminating such testimonials if the businesses knew or should have known that they were fake or false.

I'd say extensively procured. GG Clouds!

Well I just want to mention that a lot of people in this thread should stop overusing internet that much and maybe go outside and touch some grass - this would help the internet A LOT.
One more of the reasons why im not on reddit or twitter nor living in forums - becuase theyre all the same with the same lost, toxic and respectless people.
RIP internet, one moderator should close this thread duo to sensless arguments and toxicity - oh yes and ban me for my opinion XD.
