But I definitely agree in that it should not be overriding the controls developers already have in place. The latest implementation is way overstepping acceptable boundaries, including how the control input descriptions on every game's library page make it sound like it's the game's fault for bad controls and glyphs when in reality, the games were doing it fine until this newest implementation even existed.
It's always done this, that's why it sucks.
Strangely, the "feature" already seems to be pushed into the background. None of my games have the UI to switch it off right on their game page anymore. And they all seem to be back to default rather than Steam Input. Hopefully that means they realized the mistake and fixed it already.
You can always tinker with a game's controls in the Steam settings for the game and see if that's the problem.
Edit: Hmm... maybe it isn't corrected. I have a game clearly made for controllers that is saying the game wasn't made to support controls even though that's all I've ever played it with and it is clearly intended to be played with one. It is even Steam Deck compatible. They really need to get this nonsense under control.
