Resale of games on the Steam
What about the resale of games on the Steam platform? So that players can resell their completed games from the library to other players, but not less than 50% of the price on the primary market. 30% goes to Steam 70% to the game developers if they agree to such a distribution method or something like that

This has been suggested as long as Steam existed and will never happen.
The publishers have ZERO interest in a digital used game market that cuts into their profit.
And they would have all to agree to something like this.

Been discussed to death, and gone to court. Probably never happening since means developers will lose out on a lot of money due to how digital works.

Besides publishers not wanting it, it would be a terrible idea given how easily people hand over access to their accounts. Phishers already sell off inventory items... Imagine them selling off all your games, too.

Still, this isn't the forum for suggestions. You want the forum that is appropriately named: Suggestions / Ideas

Sell your license but all the proceeds go to Valve and the IP holder? Why sell it at all then?
Kage Goomba Nov 23, 2023 @ 9:36pm
lol no. This will end badly.

Yeah no. Devs will hard pass on this.
And your math is a little off because at that point. you're basically just trading your game to another player for free.

That percentage is far too low for devs/pubs to even consider.

Game devs/publishers have been trying to kill the secondhand market before Steam came to existence. Limited activation DRM was one of the tools they used. The step to digital meant they actually could limit it. They don't want people being able to resell games.

Why would they now want it?

Keep in mind that consoles are on their way to digital only as well because of that. This generation has both a disc based and a digital only version, 1-2 generations from now it'll be digital only there as well.

Then Maybe devs stop laying and adding other requirements that stopped me play the game after they put the game in steam for 3 years?

Titanfall 2 was playable offline untill I got this EA louncher thing, now can't play it but my friend who use the blackhay version of the game can play it.

If you want cheaper games (selling after playing is essentially getting a cheaper game to play), stick to sales. M4d Steam sales, bruh! In all seriousness, sales really are a great way to save money on games.

I always buy games with sales but idk what's the point of "sales" when my games all on that time lol.

Sometimes keys outside steam because it's cheaper.

Buy GOG DRM free games, then do as you wish with them. I resold some of mine.

Which is actually illegal, against the GOG terms of service and why so many developers and publishers do NOT support GoG..
