Steam opens in "Welcome" Steam Deck Mode on PC.
Hi there!

I hot a problem starting my normal Steam APP on my windows PC.

It always starts, even after reinstalling it, in the Steam Deck "Welcome" mode. I just cant exit this mode. After choosing my language and my time zone it says "Choose your network". And even my PC is connectet to the internet, im not able to get Ethernet running.

Yesterday a friend brought his Steam Deck here and we connected my accoutn to it to see whether we can play simultaniously (Me on my PC and my buddy on his Steam Deck).

I would be rly happy and thankful for your help!

Greetings,

Reinhard

first remove it from auto start. then click somewhere in menus and exit big picture, check settings to make sure you don't have big picture as default.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately it doesnt work. I removed it from autostart but the problem further exists. In the Menu there isnt an option to exit Big Picture mode.

What i dont get: I can uninstall and install it again, it doesnt matter. I install the Windows Steam Client from the website - and it opens like i would use a steam deck. I Can Shut down my pc, restart it and put to energy safing mode BUT i cant get the original windows 11 steam programm running. wtf.

alright. then just press Alt-Enter

once you'll be dropped to steam client open settings and make sure to disable BP on start

"ALT + ENTER" just closes the programm immediately

that sounds like borked steam installation. you probably reinstalled it from windows panel?
do you know why some people joke about steam being cancer? it's not just joke. go to your steam folder and delete everything but steam.exe
you might want to backup your userdata folder if you used steam before.
then launch steam and watch how it will regrow its files back. hopefully in correct order this time
