I wouldn't be so butthurt about the currency change if region hopping was actually done for
I get it, valve and devs and publishers dont want to deal with the BS of these two currencies constantly and they don't have to.

But the region hoppers are now going to jump to the next cheapest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (china, india and the like) where prices are maybe 5% more expensive (sometimes even cheaper) and we'll remain as the ones that got shafted for it lmao

Region hopping hasn't existed for many years now as that loophole has been well and truly plugged. Users are required to be bound to the geographical store AND have a verified payment method attached to the account for the said location. So if someone wanted to hop to Argentina for cheap games let's say, they'd still require a local payment method to complete a transaction within the region.

Paying some indian $10 (big money for india btw) over something akin to craigslist to get
you a disposable debit card on their name is not a difficult thing to do.

Good luck with that. Sounds like a lot of hassle to me and you'll need to trust random Indian guy not to just take your measly $10 and laugh at you.

You can't verify a throwaway debit card and Valve can detect region-masking where users try and circumvent such restrictions. This ain't 2015.

That pretty much sum it up due to insane unstable currency devs/publishers had to keep looking at it every time trying to figure out what going on if it good, bad or worse as it unstable.

And tbh those currencies are still in deep trouble, hoping they might recover something in next decade, but if not yeah I can only fear the worse happening unless they default on their currency, and accept another as their new system.

You're assuming that region hopping was the whole reason for this to begin with. If that was the case, yeah, your stance would be understandable.

But it isn't. The reason why this happend isn't region hopping. Region hopping is related to this whole debacle, but that's not the reason.

The fact that you don't have a clue is so obvious though. $10 is nowhere near a measly amount in india, you can probably have a luxurious meal with it there and nobody is going to laugh at you. We're talking about people that dive sewers with no protective clothing for that amount of money a day.

Sure you could probably get scammed once or twice but you'll save hundreds if not thousands in the long run if you've been doing it for a while. YOU might not bother with it but some people sure do.

There are spend-as-you-deposit cards that cost pennies to get that's printed on your name. I've been using one since 2016 that costed me maybe $2 at the time. It's on my name an it's legit.

valve removing region pricing on turkey and argentina is because of inflation and not region hopper

stop blaming everything on valve and start look at your own country

I am looking at my own country and i am voting accordingly. There is not much i can do about it. But be real, if it wasn't for the region hoppers actively reducing revenue of those games valve could just ignore the issue with the extra pennies they earn from those markets just being a bonus. Either way like i said if region hoppers was dealt with i wouldn't be as upset.

... you're still assuming it's about region hopping. Please stop doing that. The reason is the Lira losing worth faster, than abroad companies can/bother adjust game prices. That is the actual reason. Region hopping is a side-effect, is related, but not the reasaon.

Since region hoppers aren't the reason, no need to be upset about that not getting (fully) solved.

They could have fixed this problem with many diffrent ways this was not a solution because they just lost 2 market just to stop them.

Quite rude that you can claim I have no clue. I could say the same of you and your not so cunning plan to subvert the Steam store.

10$ is about 800 rupees and is not a lot of money to me.
