STEAM LITE for older OS
I know you read things VALVe and i know you had client that can work even on WinXP.
Stop this nonsense and give your customers with older PC what they want. Client that is NOT dependant on Google.

YOU ARE MULTIBILLION COMPANY THAT HAVE MONEY TO MAKE STEAM LITE CLIENT PUBLIC

You only stop receiving updates. It will still work.

Many people agree with you.

Including me but IF Steam does not see the economics of it they will not do it and with all the backlash from their other customers screaming down any suggestion by older OS users Steam will not need to.

Have you looked at the Linux forum they may help you with an updated OS for your hardware ?

That is incorrect. Steam will still continue to receive updates for Windows 7 users. It's just that those updates may include changes to Steam that makes Steam use features that are only available in Windows 10.

What is changing is this: Valve is no longer going through the steps to verify that their new updates will be compatible with Windows 7 users. If one of their new updates breaks Steam in Windows 7 then that's just what happens and tough cookies. Also Windows 7 users can not create support tickets about steam not working in Windows 7. All support for Windows 7 will be cut off on Jan 1 2024. It may work after that. Or they might release an update that breaks steam in Windows 7. Valve doesn't care. They aren't even concerned with Windows 7 at all anymore.

You'd think after a year of this people would have gotten the point that the client isn't the problem. It's the server. THe Servers will be updating to a security system that due to the way Microsoft handles security apis and certificates, cannot be used by Windows 7 machines..

It's not about lite vs full. All the key features require communication with the servers.

I don't know where your information came from but it wasn't the official language...

Yes? And your point is? That page you linked to doesn't say anything about "windows 7 won't receive updates anymore". It only states that they do not support windows 7 anymore. Which means future updates may break steam for windows 7. Which is exactly what I just said.

Incorrect again. Let me help you...

As of January 1 2024, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. After that date, existing Steam Client installations on these operating systems will no longer receive updates of any kind including security updates.

Let's hope you can understand the wording now.

Okay.. they must of added that part into that page in the past 24 hours. I swear I looked yesterday and that part wasn't on that page. I will admit I linked to it blindly without reading it *TODAY*. So that one is my fault. Sorry. Steam are sneaky jerks.

Read my comment right above yours: I already admitted to my mistake. That wasn't there yesterday. They added it today just before the new year.

I think a Steam Heavy should come out, heavier on punishing people for spam, and report abuse.

They changed it a while ago.
