Any windows 8.1 users here

Still on windows 8.1 even tho steam is gonna die in like a week for me, ive sticked to 8.1 as it isnt as bloated and ram consuming as windows 10, but now im kinda forced. Im prob moving over to tiny10 since i dont like bloat

Not a Windows 8.1 user but if you're really against going with a more recent version of Windows you could always just get a Steam Deck or you could explore transitioning to a Linux distribution that is user friendly & appeals to you.

You have options and still a fair amount of time to acquire and get used to a supported OS.

Yeah i know but last time i moved to linux i got completley screwed over with my stuff and some apps i used, so im planning on moving to a custom windows install thats completly stripped down of the bloat and process that lags the device.

I was but was having issues, needed a reinstall and said screw it and upgraded to 10. Haven't looked back.

Win10 isn't bloated.

If you have a SSD you won't notice a difference between 8.1 and 10 or even 11. I've used all 3 and it's only the start menu that changes.

might be true but due to the ammount of background programs and, well bloat bc its programs u dont want running in the background, makes the os a bit slower and worse for older systems

You can turn those off on Win 10, I really don't understand why hover over and few clicks are difficult for some folks.

when i installed windows 10 i did disable all of the location and targeted ads but that still left a lot of the processes running, aswell as microsoft literally installing random games and apps you never asked for it to install from the microsoft store, and also i cant stay on an older windows 10 version like 1809 bc microsoft is very pushy on its updates

If you could run W8.1, then W10+ is not a problem at all:

Please tell me where the "ram consuming" comes from. A fresh W10 install probably doesn't consume as much as your old - bloated with installations - W8.1 OS.

I have no problem with bloat or ram issues on windows 10, but maybe someday I move to linux

the ram consuming come from the preloaded bloat that all windows installs come now, imo smth taht i consider bloat is xbox game bar as i never use it and runs in the background all the time

If RAM is an issue, it doesn't cost a fortune, the question is, if there is something available for your current rig. You haven't posted any specs, so assuming things won't cut it.

I stuck to 7 until a while after 10 came out. Now I use 10 and Linux for different things. Not a big fan of 11, though compared to 10 it's fine, and I hope to ditch 10 entirely by the time 12 comes out. There's just a couple little pieces of software that I use that don't play well with Wine or Proton still. That could change.

Did you try tiny10 or other iso that remove win 10 bloat ware.....add second HD use it duel booth and keep win 8.1.... after all its your machine you have the power
