Steam Forums Can you Trust any of the users?
The Steam community as a whole seems flawed

I have considered that nobody on the steam platform is a trusted individual

I have noted some of them as being helpful to topic inquires that only someone partaking with professional knowledge of this platform would has access to.

however when engaging with those people it is quickly suspicious that they are not typical steam users.

It really creates a level of paranoia that makes me see them as some type of internal steam support bot/user.

i watch them show up in groups pretty often as if a group of people are sitting together in a room being paid to heckle the steam forum topics.

i just can't trust the things i read on steam, the narrative is very narrow , the lack of what i would consider normalcy is apparent.

is this just a me issue? of do any of you experience similar thoughts or conclusions that align with steam being full of fake forum postings and interaction with steam employed bots or people.

please don't try an credit steams fallout on me, this place was a ghost town with lack of users and lack of inspiration when i got here.

I am just one person speaking from my heart , no ill will towards steam or its users, simply declaring what i see go on, i have no shame or need to lie or hide anything about what i declare.

its obvious that Steams Frequent trolls are still angry that they have a harder time convincing anyone about what they say when users like me come straight out and slap them in the face with honesty

You rather declare what you think you see, and what you, based on that, think what is going on.

well, i do experience it at the moment. well known troll changed his profile name, picture and ID to my name and avatar and went on forums posting crazy things under my name. someone who tried to call him out got banned for "naming and shaming", troll's fake profile and fake messages are still there.
you absolutely shouldn't trust forums.

Considering this fact:

Certainly there are specific users that have made it clear they can never be trusted.

There are plenty of opportunities to have engaging, fun, and safe discussions in these forums. However, it needs to be done in good faith on all sides.

Those that hide behind alt accounts in attempts to troll and evade bans certainly do not fulfill that parameter and should be rightfully dismissed out of hand.

Trolls are the least of your worry on forums.

It's the moderators or the echo chamber that is the biggest disruptor.

Trolls can easily be ignored, now I'm not talking about the modern definition of "trolls" people spew nowadays.

Like actual trolls, not just people you disagree with.

They would have a badge.

They aren't.

You must have heard of the "Regular User Account Conspiracy" which moderators (new and old) hide behind as they ban those who constantly break the rules for doing nothing, while roaming in packs claiming to want to see proof of the rule breakers conspiracies. No badges show up on those accounts. :spazwinky:

it's two groups of people with opposing agenda. first one are customers who want best user experience for their buck. second one are pro-corpo ex- current group of people who want best outcome for Valve. and usually these two groups have different opinion and different goals. knowing which group is represented by someone is the key in understanding the situation and motives behind someone's claims.

To fight a boogyman, you have to create one first.

Volunteer moderators were users before they were moderators, and now again.

You have already discredited yourself and anything you attempt to say:

I care about my costs, I care about my service, and I care about the quality of my products. I just don't care about yours. The fact that you and others have issues with, say Forum Moderation, doesn't bother me one iota, and I'm certainly not going to stop using the forums within the stated rules because you and those others have issues with Steam and the moderation team. And to be perfectly frank, I'll be even less inclined to care if you and others complain about Steam and the Moderation Team and all their "evil" practices and harm done against you and others. Because, you see, I know how to use forum spaces within the rules lines out to those spaces and have done so for 30 odd years with nary a ban in all that time, save one in the Defiance forums long ago. And I accepted that like an adult and let the free market economy work itself out. I didn't attempt any gaslighting on the forums or any of the other nonsense here that the perpetually victimized attempt. Was I glad when Trion went belly up and all save two of the games were sunset? Hardly, that was one of the sad days for gaming. But I never gloat about things like that, nor make any attempt to bring them about through forum nonsense like we continually see here.

And that's the crux here, and part of the us vs. them mentality. People will come here complaining about something and expect an echo chamber of support. When that doesn't happen, suddenly everyone who disagrees with their assessment is a corporate shill and the reason why the "gubment" gets away with ruffling through everyone's underwear drawer. So they demand changes that would force everyone else into their narrow paranoid point of view because they simply can't handle the fact that no one else cares about their manufactured issues.
