Why are indies obsessed with pixel art?
Like it should have stayed with the NES / SNES and gameboy. Modern indie games use it all the time when we have better technology to make better games ( I'm not expecting visual masterpieces but I do expect better out of indies to not use ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pixel art ) Also how can ANYONE like pixel art it looks AWFUL?! Like I would rather play a game with " bad graphics " than a game with pixel art.

But they are everywhere and almost no indie game makes anything unique anymore. All the indies look the same because they all use pixel art.
What indies are you looking at? Far most of the indies I've seen don't use pixel art.
Well if the indie game isn't a roguelike or minecraft clone, most likely a pixel art game. But if the game has pixel art in the modern day it's probably an indie game.

Played a heap of non-roguelike-non-Minecraft indies, still barely any Pixel art.

There is a thing called "choices", you can decide to make use of it or complain about stuff that are perfectly ignorable.

I'm not going into a supermarket and tell the cashier how in the world they can sell apples when there are oranges.

Different people want different things and different people have different tastes.
Well gee I wouldn't have to complain about it if roguelikes, minecraft clones and pixel games weren't everywhere. Also indie shills worship indies for being unique when all they do are make the 3 same types of games. " If an AAA dev makes the same game it's bad but if indies make the same type of games it's unique and amazing. " -Indie shills

Celeste is pixel art.

OP a habitual troll? Not surprised. On the blocklist he goes. Thanks for the hint.
I don't troll idiot. Idk why people think that just because I hate 90% of indies.

Then dont buy them and stop your whining.

You are probably able to go into politics and create a "Anti-Pixel-Art" party, get them banned in your country and the problem is gone. At least for the time being. Until the next thing comes into your mind that is creating a non-existing problem because of existing.
Luckily you participate now rather than in the eighties or early nineties.

In your opinion.

Lots of people like pixel graphics, and if there wasn't a huge market/appeal to them, no one would buy them and no one would make them.

We're at a point where a game can be whatever and look however. We're not obsessed with pushing the limits of graphics like we were from 1995-2005. At a certain point games started looking near photo realistic and we've seen hundreds, thousands of great looking 3D games. So now whether it's the next cutting edge graphics game, or some low poly indie, or even a pixel game, that's all part of the design choice.

And making Undertale or Terraria a photo realistic 3D game wouldn't make those games better. They did just fine critically and sales-wise as they are.

You don't like pixel graphics. But you're not Joe Everygamer either. I like pixel art, I'm not alone or in such a niche minority where I need to beg for more pixel games. :KentHappy:

There's games, genres and art styles I don't prefer either. I just don't play those games generally. However there's always the chance for exceptions to be made.

Pixel art from the 80s and 90s are acceptable since they didn't have the technology to make better looking games but indies don't get that excuse since we have the technology to make better looking games ( also real indie devs make none pixel games like the legend of grimrock games for example )

If that's really your claim, then I don't think fewer pixel art games would solve it. You're already so particular that you've ruled out thousands of non-pixel art games you haven't played.

That's a you-problem. There's countless non-pixel'y games on Steam. If you can't find a single one of those, that's on you.

Choices, choices, choices.

I'd rather have more than less choices when it comes to games being offered, the shop is made in a way so you are able to find exactly what you are looking for.

Maybe you should change how you are looking for new games, if you don't find anything that fits your needs.

No it's their fault because all indies make are the 3 same genres.( roguelikes, minecraft clones and pixel art )
