Its not Valve's fault
Its Microsoft's fault for planned obsolescence.
Stop saying you're gonna sue Valve, they are not the ones to blame.
How come a game company should be the one to support Win 7?
By extension of the argument, they should support Win 95?
Its Microsoft's fault! They are the anti-consumer company!

your internet provider (your cellphone company) is responsible for giving you access to the net. Netflix is only responsible for giving you access to the content you paid for. They're not responsible on the means you access that content.
So we agree?

you're not entitled to me acting as your parents to teach you stuff I consider so basic I facepalm every time I read it.
Ok, still I dont consider asking for clarification or "where did you quote that from" asking you to teach me stuff... I mean, if you talk about a law you should be able to quote/link it instead of saying "go find it yourself" and then say Im asking you to teach me stuff.

Yes, to make a comparison with another service provider. You still did not answer the original question. Cause you know the answer is "no".
Youre not able to refund a Netflix subscription if you cant play the shows on your device.
Thats not Netflix's fault (they cant be forced to support something). You said then about Netflix deliberate not allowing the viewing.
Which was not my argument. We are talking about a PERSONAL software/hardware issue.
Thats why I used a comparition.
The actual answer is: your internet provider (your cellphone company) is responsible for giving you access to the net. Netflix is only responsible for giving you access to the content you paid for. They're not responsible on the means you access that content.

Again, completely irrelevant. You are trying to make it more complicated for absolutely no reason and it isn't working. Talking to entitlement, you're not entitled to me acting as your parents to teach you stuff I consider so basic I facepalm every time I read it.
What the internet provider have to do with hardware/software issue OP is talking about?

Also I find it strange, you keep telling OP how they should discuss their own thread.

Ask that to OP. He's the one who's talking about this. I'm certainly not.

???
I explained my point many times... I even explained why I did a comparison...
Now youre saying I should be the one explaining YOUR argument?

Edit:
Ill explain my point once more:

As companies drop support for something other companies should not be the ones forces to support that something.
Valve cant and should not be forced to change their tech stack to support an OS Microsoft has discarded to push newer ones.

Talking about strawmen and moving the goalpost...

I'm going to repeat the answer to your OP: Valve offer a service. They have to provide it. It has absolutely nothing to do with Windows 7.

Everything else short of that explanation said in this thread was people either stubborn, petty or downright trolling (mainly in the sense of people arguing all the time over Windows 7 for some reason, there is hundred of threads about this by now). There is absolutely no reason to try to make this more complicated than it actually is.

Valve has to provide. Ok.
Valve cant provide to Win 7.
People go: "No, Win 7 must be supported by VALVE!"
...
"Has nothing to do with Win 7"
What about the Win 3.1? I see no one talking about how Valve wont support Win 3.1 I dont get it.

Valve is still providing a service.

It's now on the user to keep up with the terms they agreed to so they can fully access the service. That's why Valve gave the warning in March. So people would have almost 9 months to do so.

Technically, it is Google's fault. Still, I will never understand all the threats of lawsuits especially given that this is not the first time they had to deal with them - when they stopped supporting Windows XP, something similar happened. I wasn't there to see it, but nothing came out of it inspite of all the anger directed at Valve.

Yeah, because Microsoft pointed a gun at Valve to force them to give up their proprietary system and switch everything to Chromium, a framework baked by a company who have "planned obsolescence" as their surname.

There is no winner here. Both Microsoft, Google and Valve are anti-consumerer companies.
Big surprise lol
100% is Valves fault I am on Windows 11 I dont care but Vavle gets away with too much

They changed the message to better word what will happen, yes. But reality is that nothing actually changed, since we all know already what is going to happen due to the experience with XP/Vista and the support drops of Windows versions before that.

Eventually things will start to break and Valve is not responsible for providing support.

True, but it's a bit different than the XP situation, because we already have an extended kernel for Windows 7, there is already a fork of the latest Chromium running on 7 (Supermium) and even Windows Vista can now run Discord (Electron never supported vista by any means) thanks to the latest update to the Extended Kernel.
So people will probably make the latest Steam version run on 7 again in the future, if Electron can run under Vista, so can the latest version of CEF run on 7 (as already demonstrated by Supermium fork)

It doesn't matter if there's a fork of the latest Chromium running on Windows 7. Valve isn't using just Chromium. It's their own CEF that they've tailored to Steam.
Yea but people will make it run, don't worry about that now, the current version will most likely keep working for a really long time, by then people will have a kernel extender which will make a lot of Win 10 only apps run on 7.
Is it unofficial? Sure, can it break your entire OS install? Sure, but it's better than nothing and what can we expect more, it's like wanting Android 2.3 to be natively supported by all modern apps.
I too love Win 7 and im on it right now, as time passes we will have to rely on these methods (made by very skilled people btw) to bring back functionality, or just use another OS.
They just marked my message and your reply as spam, guess they have nothing better to do
