Ok, still I dont consider asking for clarification or "where did you quote that from" asking you to teach me stuff... I mean, if you talk about a law you should be able to quote/link it instead of saying "go find it yourself" and then say Im asking you to teach me stuff.
Also I find it strange, you keep telling OP how they should discuss their own thread.
I explained my point many times... I even explained why I did a comparison...
Now youre saying I should be the one explaining YOUR argument?
Edit:
Ill explain my point once more:
As companies drop support for something other companies should not be the ones forces to support that something.
Valve cant and should not be forced to change their tech stack to support an OS Microsoft has discarded to push newer ones.
I'm going to repeat the answer to your OP: Valve offer a service. They have to provide it. It has absolutely nothing to do with Windows 7.
Everything else short of that explanation said in this thread was people either stubborn, petty or downright trolling (mainly in the sense of people arguing all the time over Windows 7 for some reason, there is hundred of threads about this by now). There is absolutely no reason to try to make this more complicated than it actually is.
Valve cant provide to Win 7.
People go: "No, Win 7 must be supported by VALVE!"
...
"Has nothing to do with Win 7"
What about the Win 3.1? I see no one talking about how Valve wont support Win 3.1 I dont get it.
It's now on the user to keep up with the terms they agreed to so they can fully access the service. That's why Valve gave the warning in March. So people would have almost 9 months to do so.
True, but it's a bit different than the XP situation, because we already have an extended kernel for Windows 7, there is already a fork of the latest Chromium running on 7 (Supermium) and even Windows Vista can now run Discord (Electron never supported vista by any means) thanks to the latest update to the Extended Kernel.
So people will probably make the latest Steam version run on 7 again in the future, if Electron can run under Vista, so can the latest version of CEF run on 7 (as already demonstrated by Supermium fork)
Is it unofficial? Sure, can it break your entire OS install? Sure, but it's better than nothing and what can we expect more, it's like wanting Android 2.3 to be natively supported by all modern apps.
I too love Win 7 and im on it right now, as time passes we will have to rely on these methods (made by very skilled people btw) to bring back functionality, or just use another OS.
