you didnt say any of that, you said the OS doesnt support CEF and with that aside, its not CEF that isnt supported, its the security.
anywho, end of story.
ya, the security has been repeated, no one but you has claimed that CEF doesnt support win 7.
even steam says the same and that security is the reason for the updates.
heck, if CEF doesnt support win 7 (according to how you are stating yourself), then how does it run on it right now?, or how has it ran on it in the past lol?
also, fyi... support doesnt equate to not being able to run it, end of support means no addressing issues running said software on win 7 and thats all it means.
btw, yes you should state what you mean, not expect people to read your mind, words matter.
anywho, nuff said.
We must believe who by their word, that the majority have moved on onto better hardware (purchased to hardware corporations and manufacturers) and installed the Newest Version of Windows?
And we must also not find strange that, suddenly, it is not ill spoken that if you dont want to use Windows, you can use Linux, yes Linux, totally and completely supported by Microsoft jurisdiction who are known to destroy competition.
OK.

Your argument is that Windows 7 has [present tense] security updates, or was it that it's only one year our of date when it comes to security update? That part is a little bit buddy, since it's self contradicting.
Unless you redefine what windows 7 means you were wrong and he called you out. MS dropped support for non corporate windows users years ago. They offered a lifeline to corporations willing to pay for further maintenance, not to individual home users. IF you were on Windows 7 pro and if you then started paying MS for security updates, good for you, but that was not the experience of most users any more than it is what Steam would expect it's users to, well use. You were called out on your disingenuous excuses about windows 7 security and are pretending like your argument still holds water.
ignoring the fact that everyone and their cousins uncles daughter was able to look online that there were ways to get said updates.
or that win 7 POSready has the same updates and they work on win 7 in general, which can be grabbed off of microsoft update catalog, thus said OS would only be 1 year out of date.
same is said despite paid ESU being only for business, "gamers" are beyond the point.
i wont even mention that my statement was to someone claiming that win 7 had zero security updates in general.
anywho, i was correct, we dont need any more misinformation, end of story.
This is a common trend.
Thank you for showing the spread of misinformation though.
I for one agree with you, there are no windows 8, 8.1, 10, 11 or VIsta users, there are only Windows XP users. I mean, who has ever even heard of windows 7. Everybody knows that in the real world everybody still uses XP. Or was it 98? Mate, I'm all for not trusting big tech, but most people do not hold on to computers for 12 to 15 years. Especially not gamers. The PS4 came out a year after windows 8 launched and that was a decade ago. For the past decade, any time anyone bought a prebuilt or a laptop they most likely bought it with an OS that WASN'T windows 7. How do I know that for sure? Because MS phases out older OS from their partners when they launch a new OS. MS stopped selling new win 7 licenses in fall 2016, that's little over 7 years ago. They offered free upgrades to win 10 and if hardware supported it win 11.
This isn't a matter of believing or not corporations, it's one of common sense. You haven't been able to buy a prebuilt with win 7 in over a decade. You haven't been able to buy a win 7 license in over 7 years and most new hardware has no drivers for win 7. This isn't an anti windows 7 consistory. This is a gaming site. Old hardware dies and need to be replaced or more often old hardware becomes obsolete by the fact that it can no longer play the latest games at the desired settings and gets replaced. You may not buy prebuilds bot enough people do and those come with the latest OS not Win 7. You might not buy the latest AAA games but enough people do and some don't work well if at all in Win 7 because of a series of issues, dx12 support, hardware support etc.
You don't need to trust Valve, though I dunno why you'd ever buy a game on here if you didn't, but you also need to use your head. Why would Valve lie? What interest do they have to lie? Valve is only doing this because their desktop app is based on Chrome. Chrome is dropping support because MS dropped it for corporations as well as home users, and MS dropped it because at this point it was only a money sink for them. It's all about money. Valve would need to pay devs for chrome to maintain support and they'd need to pay MS to keep Win7 up to date security wise
As for linux. I have no idea what you are talking about. Nobody said MS was supporting Linux. Any support MS has added in their Windows subsystem for linux is there to try and keep developers and sys admins from switching their desktops to linux. As for Valve, the only reason they're supporting linux via proton and the Steam deck is because they saw the writing on the wall for their business model when MS launched it's Windows store. As for anyone that told you to move to linux if you can't or won't move to another windows version, we told you that because unlike what some Win 7 die hards mike like to say on this forum it's not safe to use the internet from windows 7. It's not as unsafe as you'd be if you tried accessing the internet via XP, but it's still unsafe. And because of how much money valve has poured into Proton a lot of Windows games do in fact work on Linux. In a few cases better than they do on windows since there is less overhead caused by the OS itself. We're not telling you to move to linux because it's backed by MS, or some other conspiratorial reason. We're telling you to do it because it's preferable to staying on Win 7 and slowly loosing access to your games library. And please note, that is what you are loosing, access. The library will still be there waiting for you when you do in fact move to a supported OS.
You said it yourself, why would they lie? Money and control, that's it. Isn't that common sense?
And when I say control, I mean control of the masses, they don't want players stuck in old OS with old hardware (like I am doing right now on this Toshiba from more than 10 years ago) playing old games, all corporations have the same objective, to make the masses continuing feeding the system, is what capitalism is about isn't it?
There is a big difference between not trusting the corporation as a whole, and another entirely trusting the developers who put their heart into the art, plot, game play, etc....
I don't trust Valve as a corporation, because corporations are just about manufacturing consent and getting the most profit, that's it it, what there is to trust in there?
I don't think the games are at fault here, or the Devs for that matter, in fact, while the money from purchasing their games is indeed meaningful to them, there is much more to it, they are not alone in this they are in the same team as those who manufacture hardware, microsoft, those who push woke agenda too.
So what I don't trust is how the objective of a corporation and the enterteinment industry, it goes beyond making profit and calling it a day, it is also about maintaining "order" in the consumism, they have an objective that goes against the comfortability of the people.
Is that not common sense?
Dude, you're beeing paranoid. Any well run corporation will only care about one thing: money. Contro is conspiratorial BS. You think Hollywood whent woke because of conroll? It whent woke because one of the billionaires in charge of on investman fund felt bad for other people and tried to impose his own personal progresive principles on other people. You wanted money from them? You had to make sure your media was ESG complaint. And since his company owned stocks in a lot of banks things trickled down via loans to mass media. It's not about controll, it's about trying to do what some out of touch billionaire thoght was the right thing.
Same with MS. You think MS gives two ♥♥♥♥♥ about controll? Valve invested in linux because MS wanted a closed garden, but it's not about controll. MS doesn't want the Windows store to succeed so they can controll you, they want it so they can be the only ones milking you for money - just like Apple does on the iPhone. This isn't about controll. MS wants your data so they can sell you to advertisers or insurence companies. Same reason google wants it. You think Gaben and Bill smoke cigars in ill lit rooms ploting how to controll you or the masses in general? Please. It's all about making more money and you don't matter. I don't matter. Nobody that doesnt' habe a billion matters.
Valve is doing this because they are dependant on Google's Chromium project for their desktop client. Why? because it was cheaper than maintaing their own desktop aplication. Why did Chrome leave Windows 7 behind? Because MS isnt' suporting it any more. Why? Because you can't force people to upgrade to the next Service Pack and because it's a lot harder to deprecate harware that most people no longer use is software that is used by people who make use of said deprecated harware. There was a time when windwos was a UI running on 16 bit dos Windows doesn't even suport 16 bit native aplications any more. It would have been a lot harder to abandon 16 bit if windows was still based on dos. New Operating Systems don't just support new harware, they stop suporting older harware. That's the whole reason why you get multiple OS even when they're from one company. Sure, sometimes this is done to force people to move to newer hardware. I have no doubt that Intel has at times paid MS to no longer suport some of their older harware. But that isn't the case here. Sorry for you if you are still runing on 7 but it's older than 98 was when 7 launched. Valve's hand's are tied because of google, google's because of MS and MS because part of their buisness model revolves around selling new licenses.
I'd like to say you try linux, but frankly even the most used linux distro out there Ubuntu, has recently anounced they're considering making some moves that will mean their OS will only run on harware made in the last 5 years. It might be time to upgrade I'm afraid.
