Is it just me or do games SUCK in 2023 compared to a long while ago?
Honestly I think the last truly 'god tier' game I played was Halo 2 on original xbox.

Gaming since then has never been the same.

Games will usually get 90% of the way towards being a truly great game, then fail spectacularly in some hugely important area. Gaming sucks right now, IMO.

Im sure most of the problem is my desire to play very competitive games. Single player prob has some great games that never peak my interest because of how slow / easy / not competitive they are.

If only I had a connect in a AAA studio that wanted to help me make a truly god tier FPS game. I have such a great idea but in order to implement it Id basically have to learn how to make games from the ground up. S M H.

Take off your rose-tinted nostalgia goggles. Also, you get older and you have seen more stuff. That's natural.

I mean youd think in the time since Halo 2 they could make another truly great game, but.. NOPE!

Every company ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the bed since then IMO.

I see this as a golden age of gaming. More choices than ever, more resources to learn about what's out there and if we'd like it, and more non-AAA studios putting out content to rival or even exceed the big budget stuff.

But what 'god tier' 100/100 quality 'perfect' games are there for competitive games?

I havent seen any recently.

Your expectations are beyond unrealistic, so of course you will be disappointed by everything. Thing is, that is YOUR problem.

All this says to me is that you're not casting a wide enough net. There's been amazing games every single year, and utter stinkers since the 1980s, too.

Cool.

When you arent a casual gamer you always hope that 9/10 game pulls its head out in that super important area and actually fixes their game and makes it 10/10 game.

Now that the majority buys every garbage release without question and flays anybody who raises concerns or critiques, nobody puts any effort in anymore. Games used to be passion projects, now they're just shovelware. Best you can do is keep an ear to the ground for good indie titles. Same ♥♥♥♥ that happened to music, movies, and software in general...

TRUE.

COD is the best example of shovelware. What a nice way to put that lol so fitting.

"Muh filthy casuals", next protip: Don't make being a "gamer" your whole personality.

Considering casual players destroy entire franchises while constantly riding the wave of 'IT PERF CUZ IT HAS MY FAV TITLE ON DA BOX' yea.. filthy casuals is very fitting.

Go look at halo. Dead game. Used to be the hottest game on the planet for OG xbox. Now they can barely break 8k players. Soooo embarrassing.

Did you know in halo infinite if you draw a circle with the movement control stick you draw an oval on the ground? Thats right. 343 is so worried about lil timmy the thumbless 8 year old missing a shot they decided 'lets just delete the ability for people to strafe'. Left / right strafe is 80% as fast as forward backward movement. I tested it. Thats why the game felt like ♥♥♥♥ to play for me.

Wow. Just.. wow.

Best part is skill based matchmaking would solve ANY problems this would cause (aka none).

Basic stuff like this is obnoxious as hell. Another great example was in halo reach how casual players were preaching from the rooftops how the DMR wasnt broken. Meanwhile, in halo reach; you could see someone in a 1v1 DMR vs DMR fight, get the first TWO SHOTS off, pace your shots (as intended as the namesake 'bloom mechanic') and hit EVERY single shot and LOSE an engagement to an enemy who whipped around and just mashed RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR without pacing their shots. In other words they couldnt have made the gun MORE broken if they tried.

So what did they do? They made ZB (zero bloom) and reduced bloom gametypes. Which made the DMR so powerful it deleted 80% of the other sandbox from being viable. All to patch up some horseshxt they should have had on lock from DAY ONE before the game was even released.

Casual players 'welp it says halo on the box so I guess dat means it perfect game'.

God forbid game devs make games for the people who can actually form an opinion past 'its fine how it is' or even play their game at an average-skilled level lmao.
