It should be improved for the sake of humankind.
I bet Valve's computers are so powerful they never even noticed it does that.
Valve does not use 20 year old PCs where 1% (i would expect that much load from something like that) additional cpu usage would matter?
Im shocked.
like I said, the mini player there is so cool, but that doesn't mean killing everything else.
The user scenario is:
When the user has stopped listening to the music. (Afterwards the Steam application continues to run.)
The problem is: power inefficiency.
The Steam application currently uses a certain (unoptimized) mechanism for playing and then stopping the music. And the result is that the computer uses more power for it than needed. The computer is just wasting power on the music player, unless it restarts the entire Steam application after playing the music.
It sucks for the people who DO use it but thats the way Valve always worked.
I doubt the music player in its old form comes back but you can make a thread in the suggestion forum.I think there were already a few threads there about bringing back the old player.
In the meantime i recommend using a external player like MusicBee or similar you can easily control with keyboard shortcuts during gaming.
all I want is to use this damn music layer cus I want to
Ehhhh.... to be blunt, the Steam music player really has not much worth as a standalone player.
It was a convinient way to control music via the Steam overlay during gameplay.
But it was inferior to any other standard (and free) music player you could install on PC.
I don't usually listen to the music I have in steam anyway, but sometimes I just want to and it can be real quick to find. if i just went and use whatever music player I have I won't be picking those music files from steam, trust me. or rather I would just listen to an online music even though all of those online music services sucks paid or free.
so, having a music player to listen to the music files from steam itself can be handy. that's all.
and it's still here but missing features, so if we got those back it will be nice. that's it.
As you need to download the music you have on steam either way.....just copy it in your normal Music Folder an create a random playlist.......
It'll allow you to downgrade Steam to use old and better Music Player. BUT it's outdated, so a warning.
