Refund policy on Steam is not fair on customers
When you buy a product which is not as it described ,then i think the refund has to be placed regardless the hrs you played on it. I am saying that because are some games that you need to spent some hrs on them in order to find if are good or not. Also are some other games (ex Admiral Dreadnoughts) which the developers making constantly updates on the live version (as it was a beta) many times making the game unplayable because they do not have quality control on their updates. These cases have to be checked out from Steam in order to protect their customers from uncompleted products.

"the solution is to avoid buying anything online"

As far as games, that's great advice for anyone, let alone those afflicted. Online in general, i love Amazon lol. But as far as games, this business is getting ugly, not to mention, the games itself getting seemingly worse.

That's why i suppose i want to keep the older games i have being i have no draw to buy new ones. Better graphics and bells and whistles, but nothing has really drew me in for a long time.

Perhaps it's age, and i suppose if i was 20 again, i'd think everything was great. Movies, Music..and games.

But playing as long as i have, i'm seeing a brain drain in the gaming industry. Nothing to do with Steam, but as a whole.

My next investment, if anything, is an OFFLINE gaming console, that can play the older games, in HD, preferably with the discs i have, and NO updates, of any kind. That is my Dream Machine, atp lol.

Oh i haven't played Triple A games in years. I mean there are good games out there, but they ruin them with these updates, and i lose what i paid for, making the venture not worth it. I mean Chivalry 2, ATS, now Arma 3 given Ge Force Now is bugged, all ruined with updates.

How i just long for the day, i put the disc in, and am left alone. I'd settle for PS2 atp, if it were in HD lol. Kinda of tough to play 480p games on an HD tv without wincing lol.

Funny how we all remember that part of the past, and not the one in which for some god forsaken reason the game didn't launch or crashed and you were left alone with a dumb face and a non functioning game.

Rose-tinted glasses are a marvelous thing.

Oh boy. I remember downloading patches all day for some games. People are quick to forget how incredibly convenient Steam is. It didnt become popular out of the blue.

Or accidentally downloading the wrong patch and installing it. What a hoot, right?

When was that? Oh you mean here maybe. I couldn't imagine that. I'm talking about PS2. No patches there lol. And the games worked. And still do. I'm looking at these emulation machines, but none of them read the discs.

Or after installing the latest patches, you'd go to play on your favourite server only to find that they haven't updated to the latest patch.

Then your biggest mistake is to not stick to console.

Well i have stuck with console. That's mainly all i play, with ther exception of the older games here, but, not for long, which is the issue.

And then we have to look at what social media did to the games.

Hell, if these were the days of Pac Man in the arcades, social media would cry "the pac man is too slow', "the pac man is too fast". "Nerf the monsters". 'Buff the monsters". By the time they got done with it, it would have flopped and not been worth the quarter to play it lol.

Tough ♥♥♥♥, life is not fair anyways.
If you have not detected within the span of two hours of gameplay that the game does not hold your interest, a refund is not required. With regards to the argument that a certain game does not warrant a refund due to a lengthy tutorial, reviews and YouTube gameplay videos exist.

Unfortunately, it seems as if the trait of initiative is deceased, and online reviews appear to be devoid of substance and purpose apart from mere decoration of empty webspace.

People also seem to forget that Tutorials are also part of the game. Heck Some games are mostly tutorial. Like Portal for example.
The 2hr Refund policy hurts the creators more than the users. Imagine playing a game over 100 hrs and you want a refund because the ending sucked! Seriously, do more research into your games before you buy them. I usually scroll through peoples profiles and look at the games they play, and if they play a game that I never heard of over 500 hrs. I will most likely buy it in confidence.
