You can't even play LOTS of games properly on Linux, btw. Plus it's just a ♥♥♥♥♥ to patch stuff and re-learn everything.
Rule of thumb: Windows for gaming, Linux for your everyday, average, crap i.e Youtube.
Is it the telemetry boogeyman?
Maybe the sense of superiority loud, Linux users typically have?
I think we're slowly shifting to other OS, it might take awhile but yes.
Now if more developers made their games on Vulcan instead of DirectX...
Simple really. Just because many users disagree with you, doesn't mean we're simping for corporations.
I have uninstalled FF around 14 years ago.
And why would someone care if they drop OS support......Old Linux Versions from 15 years ago are not supported by the current ff either.
And just so you know....a lot of software is not working on linux, the minority who wants to use it for playing can be ignored if other Mainstreamsoftware (or Hardware) can not be used anymore ;)
Its not like upgrading from 7 to 10. this is moving to a whole new platform which a lot of people might struggle with depending on their stuff.
"Just do a huge monumental shift of the entire PC gaming ecosystem."
This kind of reminds me of an old episode of Star Trek the Next Generation, where to solve a very complex problem of a moon falling into a planet, Q recommends that they just simply change the gravitational constant of the Universe so the moon is easier to move.
Which in fine for an omnipotent being like himself (well he was temporarily normal-potent), but not realistic for the regular cast members. Just like OP's idea is fine for his wild imagination, but not really realistic for Valve, or any single business.
