Scam? Need Opinions

I feel like I handled this correctly but the situation went as such. A new account on discord that has been created that day messages me asking if I am still the owner of the account and I say yes. Then they ask if I knew anyone impersonating my account and I said no. Then they said “ I am so sorry me and my friends mass report your account because we thought you are the one who stole my stuff its really crazy because he had the same name and profile picture with your account.” I asked what the stuff was stolen for and said I check for impersonating accounts frequently (this is true). They then state “ I'm really so sorry, this is what really happen I accidentally report your account and tell my friends to do it. for doing illegal buying product instead of someone else and i file a support ticket about it and the steam moderator said that there is a higher chance your account will be suspended and your Ip will be blocked on steam if there is no action from the owner of the reported account” with a screenshot attached saying the ban report has been approved and blah blah blah. I don’t really care so I just say “Ok.” They then say “ IT is my honest mistake The main reason why I message you, it's because the steam support admin that I already filed a requested wants to confirm the incident for just what happened and why I accidentally reported you mistakenly from steam and they just wanted and needed your statement explanation to comply about your side with this kind of case and I know that you are not part and involved of those mistakes report.” I then said it’s not on me. I didn’t make the report and you can message and cancel it. It’s on YOU. I also said that if they aren’t willing to message to cancel it, it’s a scam. They then said “ The report still pending, steam admin just wanted to hear your clarification about this issue to avoid getting banned or lock on steam, I didn't mean to report you please help me to explain this to the steam admin so he can help for us solve this report as soon as possible!!!!” so I said “ It says in the picture it has been approved. So now you’re lying? Delightful.” and now they blocked me. I’m not really concerned and assuming this is a scam but there’s no steam support I can actually contact to verify so here I am.

Scam: I Have Been Reported and Will Be Banned

It's a scam.
- False reports do not get you ban.

- Steam support do not do private chats outside of Steam ticket system, they don't work with anyone for reports, and they don't seek out to contact anyone.

- Scammers makes fake images, videos, and gifs, they use them as scare tactics.

There different types of scams as well such as vote for my team to try trick you to login on their scam sites, same with you won a prize, or you have pending ban, and so on.

Scammers goal is to trick you into giving them your account, items, or money, all you can do is report their accounts. Often on Steam they use stolen accounts to contact others, but for discord they just make new accounts since there nothing stopping them from mass flooding servers, and spamming people.

Because people don't find it weird that they need to resolve random reports themself instead of a competent moderation team

Was on Google and knew it was a scam as I stated. Just confirming and putting it out here for others to be aware.
